What I mean is what Lobo said at half-time: that 5 guards gives different spacing and shot selection. Hard to practice against and a difficult match-up. So, exciting games, but ultimately the size differential will win out. Just that it's nearly always an ugly win....Temple started 5 guards. A thought: playing UConn small guarantees a closer game, but, ironically, also pretty much guarantees a loss.....
This is what other teams put in their scouting report vs UConn: "We have to play a stifling defense, hit threes ata ridiculous pace and UConn has to play a sloppy game and miss shots". Good scouting job, Temple.
Seriously, good D from Temple but the Owls are getting lots of help from UConn.
I guess it feels ridiculous, especially since they were pretty wide open.Temple is not doing anything exotic scheme wise on defense. They are simply doubling down on the post pass because UConn has not proven they can make 3 pt shots consistently. As far as Temple "hitting 3s at a ridiculous pace" they are shooting a pedestrian 5-14.
I guess it feels ridiculous, especially since they were pretty wide open.
Thankfully, I muted her before she had a chance to share that little nugget of priceless insight. Thanks Carolyn for pointing out the irrelevant fact that Geno is a whopping 158 wins away from the Great Pat Summitt's record total.
Pam did follow it up by mentioning Geno's record winning %, and speculating he could get there in a few more years....Thankfully, I muted her before she had a chance to share that little nugget of priceless insight.
