Cream finally starting to rise?

Zone defense lead to Stewie steal and MoJet pull-up on the break. 38-30.

Kind of a messy game for UCONN - especially on the defensive end. Can't blame a team if they have a poor shooting night (Morgan 1-8 - yuck).. But where is the hustle and defensive intensity?

Thanks Carolyn for pointing out the irrelevant fact that Geno is a whopping 158 wins away from the Great Pat Summitt's record total.

It was a game as long as Temple was getting turnovers and finding the net.... now that they're cold, looking like UCONN will pull away. Geno will have his team on another level after the break.

This is just way too exciting for me-gonna go walk my dogs. Can't see much from down here nohow.

Too many: sloppy passes, open threes for Temple, open layups for Temple.

This is what other teams put in their scouting report vs UConn: "We have to play a stifling defense, hit threes ata ridiculous pace and UConn has to play a sloppy game and miss shots". Good scouting job, Temple.

Seriously, good D from Temple but the Owls are getting lots of help from UConn.

Temple has 5 treys. We have 1. 12 point advantage for the Owls.

Temple started 5 guards. A thought: playing UConn small guarantees a closer game, but, ironically, also pretty much guarantees a loss.....
What I mean is what Lobo said at half-time: that 5 guards gives different spacing and shot selection. Hard to practice against and a difficult match-up. So, exciting games, but ultimately the size differential will win out. Just that it's nearly always an ugly win....

Temple is not doing anything exotic scheme wise on defense. They are simply doubling down on the post pass because UConn has not proven they can make 3 pt shots consistently. As far as Temple "hitting 3s at a ridiculous pace" they are shooting a pedestrian 5-14.

As a side note, in the first half, Temple played UCONN as hard as almost every other team we faced including all the top 10 teams. Temple is having a great season (17-7 and 11-2 in the AAC including a recent win over USF). I believe if Temple continues, they should be a NCAA team. They have had some AWFUL losses Quinnipeac and SMU, but those are no worse than many other teams who are ranked and/or getting votes, and IN the current brackets. Temple needs some love IMHO...
