pj said:Yes, it seems like they want to win every game by 3 points.... We should have been practicing this spread passing formation against UMass and Buffalo, then we might not have so many miscommunications between Whitmer and receivers in week 7.
The problem is, the more DeLeone gets his hands on the offense, the WORSE our running game gets. Last year when he changed the blocking scheme, our running attack took a substantial step backwards. In the 2nd year he added the OLine to his duties. Now, our running game is a JOKE. From one of the most solid, workman-like rushing attacks (think Wisconsin, just not as big-time) to one of the worst in 1A. In no time flat. DeLeone is a mover!Doesn't look like foot was taken off but we do need to run better
It's crazy that in a game where your D has only given up one TD in a half that you feel like you are hanging on to a chance at victory by the skin of your teeth. This would imply that functioning, competent offense is an objective to be achieved during the season. I am not ready to accept that this is a goal for the team at this time.
Temple's offense produced 8 total yards before the 4th & 1 punt. It's crazy that in a game where your D has only given up one TD in a half that you feel like you are hanging on to a chance at victory by the skin of your teeth.
Awesome! Great time for conservative runs right up the middle, trying to preserve our chance for a medium-range FG....Once again, good job D!Thank you Byron Jones.
If there is ANYONE in the state of CT (or on the Temple team) who thought our offensive "plan" was anything different than that after a big interception, they simply haven't been watching. Here we go back to run run pass. Wtf
You just noted 2 of DeLeone's most "noteworthy" contributions to our Offense-the decimation of our OLine with his "scheme," and the removal of ALL screen plays, something UCONN wasn't built on, but certainly had lots of success with over the years.Pass protection???? God almight...and Temple's biggest weakness was supposed to be their lack of a pass rush.
WHERE'S THE SCREEN???
DeLeone has absolutely OBLITERATED our offensive running game, and he has done it FAR BETTER than any opposing D-Coordinator could have ever dreamed of doing.Temple's rushing numners: 28 rushes for 125 yards...4.5 YPC average
UConn's rushing numbers: 24 rushes for 38 yards...1.6 YPC average
And this is at home. They are just better in the trenches. Thank goodness Coyer hasn't thrown the ball so far.
That missed FG in the 1st qtr is looming large at the moment.
