Tarris Reed Jr.

Karaban may be guarding him most of the time to reduce his ability to hurt UConn from perimeter.

Boakye starts and is two inches taller and who I imagine our bigs will guard mostly.
Gotta be honest. Hadn't thought of AK . Interesting idea. Maybe throw a little Stewie at him for a change of pace to manage AK's foul situation. Will be a game within the game for Danny.

When Baokye is on the floor can def use AK, if not it’s likely going to be a 5 unless he’s torching us.

The most amazing thing to me is how many players the coaching staff has had noticeably improving game to game—Reed obviously being a big one
We have the best coaching staff top to bottom in College BB bar none.

I can see Hurley and the staff set up the defensive assignments that way. Boakye does not make baskets outside of the 5 foot range so it will be easier for Tarris to park himself near the basket on defense for the most part. He will occasionally have to defend ball screens when Boakye sets those screens for Brickus as he is very good shooting off of ball screens. Also, Reed or Johnson will have to help Karaban out in the post, however. Karaban can guard Dixon on the perimeter, but Dixon will bully Karaban in the post 1x1. Dixon is a load. In 2023, Dixon vs Sanogo in the paint was the classic tale of unstoppable force vs immovable object.

Tough matchup - Dixon presents one of the more uniquely matchups in the league as a 3 pt shooting 5. Out 5s may have the type of athleticism to stick. Fun watch.
Dixon was playing the 4 for them last game I saw.

He may not have Sanogo’s touch, which is unbelievable, but he’s got great hands and he finishes most of the time. Tarris is very reliable.
Yup. Good hands. Great footwork and finishing around the rim, gets on the glass and he uses his size to his advantage. Not sure what happened at Michigan but I’m glad he’s on our side.

Are folks forgetting how great he was already?
Sanogo was putting up better numbers in the G League and a few NBA games. I think he was one of the best players in CBB and would have been a top 5 player of the year candidate. But I’m someone who is still seriously considering buying his Windy City Bulls jersey.

The hilarious thing is those dummies on the sleepers media podcast, and that one idiot in particular, always was bashing Reed for having stone hands, among other things.

Yeah and he’s getting nowhere with the Bulls. He is at the top of my rooting for UConn players to do well in the NBA list right now.

Bashing Reed and fluffing Mahaney. People still listen to this guy why?

They’re not real analysts - they’re a narrative generator, hot take machine. Basically subscribed to the ESPN way of operating - be loud and opinionated, with little fact. Try to cause debate. Knowledgeable enough to be dangerous. Keep them in context and they can be entertaining as they do get really creative with topics and coverage.
