Tarris GTD

If he wasn’t ready to play in last night’s tune up, I have a hard time believing he will be ready for tougher competition next week. This situation smells like he will be out until the new year and when he comes back he won’t be 100%.
What? Maybe he plays against Florida and maybe not, but if he’s not 100%, why would you play him against a cupcake? Get Reibe the reps and get Reed the rest. It would make zero sense to bring him back for East Texas A&M.

Exactly my point. It does not appear he is game ready let alone 100%. If he were, ETAM would be the perfect game to allow him to ease into game flow.

Literally the exact opposite of your point. He doesn’t need to ease into game flow. Even if he could play, there would be no point in bringing him back for ETAM if he would be better served by rest.

Ok..badly worded sarcasm on my part I guess.

Disagree on the ETAM point. If he was able to give it a go, it’s the perfect game to test the ankle.

My larger point is this: he is not ready and given how he looked against Illinois it may be awhile before he is. Ankle injuries are pesky..probably more so for a player his size. I view the game to game designation as gamesmanship. I hope I am wrong.

UConn Director of Men’s Basketball Communications Bobby Mullen.... said his status remains game-to-game.

Unless the meaning of game-to-game has changed radically, my read is that Tarris will be back soon. If he said week-to-week, that would sound like January. There are five games left in December. Hate to have him miss them all. At any rate, the question should come up in the presser before Florida.

It’s been said, but I’d rather err on the side of resting him than see him come back at the equivalent of where he was vs. Illinois (not that I know he’d be only at that level). No question he helped us win that game with his presence on the floor, but his mobility was noticeably hindered and that made me just worry about him getting hurt worse the whole time he was in.

Edit: hit —> him*

Need him for florida given their front court. Give 10 minutes and rest during lowly big east schedule. Seed will be determined now

Why would be EASE his ankle against a cupcake. There is nothing to test. Even if he felt 100% there is zero reason to play him that game. It’s an ankle, he can move effectively or he can’t. Not using it and getting treatments are the smartest thing he can do

Athletes heal differently than avg folks. Getting a week off can be a big help.

I’m starting to wonder if he’s soft.

I know what the responses will be. I want him healthy. He’s the Kodiak bear. He must be really hurt. They’re playing it safe. Yeah yeah.

We are going to now play Kansas and Arizona with significant minutes from Koroma. Get on the court, Reed.
Do you really think Tarris is making all the decisions ? I I’ll bet he will not play until after Christmas, maybe New Year as someone else suggested. It doesn’t matter how tough you are, if you’re not 99%+, it’s not worth going at this stage of the season. When you start questioning an athletes physical toughness after successive injuries, you are asking for trouble. He may not be the toughest person ever, who knows? Until he feels confident in his body, you aren’t going to get Jackshiite from him. We are still a long way from the moment when Hurley has to say it’s now or never Tarris.

Might say more about Reibe than Reed. The way Reibe played against Illinois may have given them more confidence that he can start and we can rest Reed until he's 100% vs rush him back to have a chance in these games
Because these games are important, very important. We are fighting every game in every sport to muscle our way into a P4 conference.

A minutes restriction against a cupcake will allow him some stress free run time. If he moves well, it will give him confidence for when his ankle will really be tested against Florida and Texas.

I think your question is if Tarris is making all the decisions and no, I think obviously the coaching and medical staff are involved.

Do I think there’s a difference between being hurt or being injured? Yes.

You still haven’t answered which you think it is. And a lot of people like to conveniently ignore the BYU game.

So you think he's going to continue to be a GTD for the next 4-5 games? That would be kind of strange unless there's a setback. Why would they even call it a GTD since the Kansas game if he wasn't going to play for a month?

Yes, there is. Injured means you can't go even if the world is coming to an end. Hurt means you can go in that case. Cost benefit analysis time. Does the possible positive outcome from playing hurt outweigh the negative of getting more hurt, if not injured and out altogether. We will get into the tournament whether we beat Texas and Fla or not. Nice wins to have, but it would be nice to have Tarris 110% on Feb 1st/15th or even March 1st god forbid. Feb 1 and 15 are plenty of time to sharpen up. March 1 getting late. Remember Willis Reed against the Lakers!! Hope it doesn't come to that, too much that none of us don't know at thios point. Bet on the kid being tough and the coaches being prudent. Seems as though some are betting against Tarris being a dawg.

No answers here. A bit perplexing for sure.
