Tarris GTD

I’m starting to wonder if he’s soft.

I know what the responses will be. I want him healthy. He’s the Kodiak bear. He must be really hurt. They’re playing it safe. Yeah yeah.

We are going to now play Kansas and Arizona with significant minutes from Kromah. Get on the court, Reed.

Some of you have never severely sprained an ankle and it shows. One bad step and he’s out for the rest of the game and Florida and Texas too.

It’s not “just” a pain tolerance thing. It’s whether or not the ankle is stable enough for running, cutting and jumping.

Shoot, if the ligaments are already vulnerable, landing on someone’s foot could end his season.

Did you see his lack of mobility on Friday? I was wondering why he even played the minimal minutes he did.
yes there was a lack of mobility but surprisingly he did provide some good D. It was waxed on by the announcers even

So you are implying he’s not injured, despite the injury being specifically identified?
I actually disagree. If Reibe gets in foul trouble we are cooked inside. I would prefer both teams at full strength from a tactical standpoint, not even a sportsmanship standpoint.

The next day is always the key thing with ankle injuries. You can tape it up real tight and play through it - but if you end up with increased swelling and less mobility the next day, then you aren't all the way back yet.

We just watched Liam (after one out of body experience at Creighton on muscle memory) look like a fraction of himself for the final month of the season because of lingering ankle issues. Difference last year is that we urgently needed him back ASAP because we were sliding off the rails. Same with making Hass fight through his ailments, since we needed a point guard with Mahaney and Nowell both not being good enough. We don't urgently need anything right now. We're fine.

It would be much better for our long term goals if we got Tarris fully healthy, and going full speed in practice and games, then having him gut out 15 minutes in games at 50 percent in November/December, miss subsequent practice days getting treatment, rinse and repeat. Practice time matters too, especially with our offense and new teammates to integrate in.

If we lose a game or two more in November/December and end up a 3 instead of a 2 seed, it means we just wear blue in the Sweet 16 instead of white. And hopefully Tarris is healthy and in full beast mode then - and is seamlessly integrated into our offense and playing cohesively with his teammates. Then bring on whoever, whenever.

Why do so many people here think that playing tonight and sitting out later is an actual option. That is not how injuries work.

I’m guessing that you didn’t mean to reply to me?

"I’m starting to think he’s soft." Good there it is! Okay Tarris make him swallow this the rest of the season
Has anyone followed Tarris the kid? Please tell me what about his persona suggests he's tough? Big does not equal tough. There is nothing about him that is tough - Hurley has to use gimmicks to pull it out of him, like the Kodiak. Tarris is a lot of wonderful things, but tough is not one of them. Very talented, and part of the "nice" group and why this whole board was claiming we needed some dawgs last year.

Have you followed this injury at all? It does not take on the typical shape of a bad high ankle sprain. First, he PLAYED on it after he injured it against BYU. Then, the staff didn't know he was even hurt until he said something on MONDAY. Then he comes back two weeks later? Then Hurley said he came back about a week early (3 week injury). A high ankle sprain is a 4-6 week minimum injury if bad. This is VERY likely a pretty minor ankle sprain.

Could you imagine Cam Spencer not playing in his only chance at the Phog if 80%? He played this game two years ago on a bum foot and took the last shot. Gamers game. Tarris will be laughing on the bench. If Cam couldn't play he'd be seething.

Some of the issue here is the staff is so guarded about telling us anything, we're often guessing.

There's a difference between being hurt and being injured.
Nothing worse than throwing shots at players and hiding behind secret info that doesn’t exist.

Keep your opinions to yourself if you can’t defend them.
