Tarris GTD

Last year we had a bad November and it hampered our seeding in March. We probably make a second weekend run if not forced to play the eventual champs in round 2.

This year, given the caliber of our OOC and with the BE looking terrible, it's even that more important to win these early season games.
what also hurt last year was losing the guy who was becoming the focal point of our offense for 6 weeks with an injury when we were maybe starting to turn the corner. And his not being at full strength hurt our chances in March.

Everyone is blinded by homerism but me! I'm the only one who calls it like it is! I and only I can see the truth as it truly is!

Do you get how annoying that is?
Do you know how annoying it is that you comment on every single one of my posts that show even mild eval of our players that isn't rosey dude? I feel like smacking you in the face like one of the Three Stooges. Why don't you live by this - you don't agree, disagree. But please with your personal attacks man. The whole point of a message board is discussion - not everyone waiving their poms poms. I know for some it's an outlet to be snarky and testing their wit, which isn't great with most of you.

If I commented on every one of your posts, I'd do nothing but comment on your posts.

Also, I don't know you personally, so am unable to make personal attacks. I'm not sure you know what you're even mad about.

You'd probably dig me.

If you don't agree with a post, just disagree. That's the whole point of a message board - it's not telling someone you don't like their views. What good come of that?

Here, by example: I disagree, I think Reibe can hold his own with Bidunga. Could be the start of a good discussion, not this below the line malarchy. If you think saying Reibe isn't as athletic as Bidguna is trashing a player, c'mon.

Ignore, cuts down BY time unbelievably! I do enjoy some of the Ruffsters posts, but it is so tedious to parse through the acrimonious personal back and forths that he invariably is involved with to get to those takes.

The BE is hot garbage - 6 teams are practically buy games. The good news is we can rest guys as needed and really stretch the bench to work the rotations and get them run to season up for March.

No idea why Mr Faschizzle enjoys tracking it so much. Hey let’s see how hopefully not bad we can be.
We still have not beaten Seton Hall at Seton Hall under Hurley

Agree - I don't love being part of the personal back and forth and feel you on that. Will do best to ignore going forward. Maybe the usuals can do the same. I do highly appreciate your use of the word "acrimonisous" perfectly positioned.

Instead of the back and forth from @RuffRuff and @Inyatkin a few points as someone who has watched every Reibe game and several KU games.
  • I am curious whether Bidunga would be pulled away from the paint by the threat of Reibe shooting. If so, that would open some things up and help our rebounding.
  • Bidunga is pretty good at scoring over taller guys, elevates and releases his baby hook or push/bank shot pretty quickly. Also has good footwork and quick spin moves (Hurley said reminds him of Sanogo). You can see in the clip.
  • Reibe has gotten better at rebounding but I'd say his read/reaction on the boards is a bit slow and I think Bidunga could do well on the offensive boards. Need to block him out.
  • If he can get the ball in good position, Reibe can certainly score against him, he has a size advantage. Bidunga's shot blocking is most effective against driving or posting guards and wings, not 7 footers.
Hopefully Reed is good to go and we don't need to worry too much. Koroma should get some minutes as well guarding Bidunga or Tiller.

You might even appreciate it more if you spelled it correctly.....just sayin 😀
I liked "waiving pom-poms," which appeared in an earlier post.

When someone explains how a message board is 'supposed' to work, it rarely squares with either my personal take (nbd), or - more significantly - how things actually play out in practice.

Instead, such broad claims feel more like futile attempts to control things/posters without taking personal responsibility for one's own opinions, and respecting that others regard things differently.

If I'm Bill Self, I tell Bidunga to play goalie and let the freshmen prove he can hit 3's on the road in a chaotic environment. Reibe's got a nice-looking jumper, but he is 2-7 on the year and shot 33% in the FIBA tourney. So it's not like he's lit it up or anything. And, I mentioned this in another thread, if I'm Kansas, the shot I want to give up is a 7-1 freshman's threes because he is unguarded. I'd much prefer that to AK, Solo, or whoever getting in rhythm.

Agreed. It's what every good coach does against us. Ignore the big screener and keep the 5 in drop. The interesting thing is that Flory is quick enough to go around that screen and pick up a wing or ball handler or block shots on the perimeter. So Self might not mind him out there disrupting our screen game the way Whaley used to for UConn.

Arizona wasn't respecting Reibe's 3 even after he knocked down a couple....their big was still hunkered down in the paint daring him to shoot.

If Reibe gets an opportunity early to launch a couple open 3's, I say give him the green light and see if he can knock them down. If he does, that'll force Kansas to seriously consider sending out their big to put a hand in Reibe's face.

Budinga lost the head to head battle with the Euro big from North Carolina (Henri Veesaar) - but he's a couple years older than Reibe (and was playing at home). In a perfect world, we’d have both Reed and Reibe at full strength to show different looks.

This is well said. Message boards work how they work. There’s no “supposed to,” and arguing otherwise just sounds like whining

Do you think I'm trying to "control" the board? Hans the Wise is a bit of an oxymoron. All I'm saying is that if I present an observation or a take, it's to kick off a discussion, not incite some other poster to call me this or that. That feels like schoolyard drama. Anyway, I promised not to get into this. Ends here.

Ends here? Sounds controlling to me!

I kid, I kid.

Some of that is because UNC is 6'10", 7' and 6'10" with Caleb Wilson at SF. Bidunga was often trying to slow down Wilson and was out on the perimeter while Veesaar feasted inside or was left largely unguarded outside (2-5) from 3. The 3 guard lineup was a mistake, size won out.

That was the game where they discovered what they had in Tiller. He was a bench player then, starts now and allows them some chance against bigger teams.

This is what I am worried about them trying. Dropping the 5 and leaving Reibe out there to shoot them. It's worked against UConn in the past.

That sucks, wish Reed was playing. Have to view it long term & get Reed back fully healthy, still can definitely win this thing without him. We need Reed this season if we’re going to make a run at this thing.
