Tarin Smith takes the stairs.

Smith is working hard to compete at a high level as a senior Husky. He knew coming in he was a piece of the puzzle and more than likely competing with CV for minutes but also teaming up with him. I am not sure why this needs to even become a Tarin vs CV thing, how about having all the guards on board working hard like Tarin to become a great backcourt this year?

I don't know about 'unnatural stiffness' on his jumper, but his toes are like 6" from the ground on his jumper. Not much elevation at all.

Also, his dunks remind me of mine from '63/'64. Ain't no way they gonna happen in a game. The combination of limited hand size and barely getting up high enough to rattle the rim is less than ideal. I couldn't quite get high enough to dunk two handed, and couldn't control the ball well enough with one hand to execute a dunk in the real world. I recognize the same limitations - although maybe not to the same extent - in Smith.

Antwoine ANderson's got a top 10 ugliest jumper in UConn history, that is pretty harsh. Back up PG who can make open shot and has a decent A:TO is all we need since Jalen is going to flourish under Hurley. Truly, I am anticipating Jalen being a top 5 PG nationally this year. Hurley will challenge him and set up an actual offense for him to thrive in.

But he blew by a ball. A ball is much more mobile than a chair. This is really second level stuff.

That’s what he is Anderson 2.0. Same ugly shot and all. People expecting this guy to be a starter are crazy.

I expect Jalen to be much better and CV as well. Polley and Carlton should also be much better this year.

PS: No question that Hurley needs to hit a homerun with 2019 recruiting. We need a huge talent infusion.

I like his work ethic. While a good dribbler, he tends to be real right hand dominant on dribble during scoring moves.

I have no doubt Jalen will react to Dan Hurley and the new staff in a positive manner both for the good of the team and his own good post-UConn. You are correct to be truly a great PG as I believe he can he will need to make better decisions consistently, lead by example on both ends of the court. If all the guards are healthy and that spot is deep he will have no reason not to be the defender he can be every second of every game. I think he could be close to a lock down defender with a little will to be just that, good lateral quickness and long arms to get in the passing lanes.

I think this staff gets the best out of Jalen and they will make him work harder to be the best he can be, just a hunch.

Wanted to see minutes per game for Kemba and Bazz their '11 and '14 vs. Adams last year. Kemba 37.6, Bazz 35.1 and Adams 38.1. So in championship years the coaches really rode the star point guards re lot of minutes per game. Gave them "rest while playing" by bringing in Bazz to run with Kemba and take some of the offensive pg responsibilities off him, same with Boat giving Bazz a break from pg duties on offense.
Expect lot of minutes for Adams with periods where offense is run by another guard and he stays out there as a "threat". Also, he will need to pick and chose when to "ramp up" defensive effort.
A good strategy (as used in '11 and '14) is attacking other team sometimes with Adams on the ball and penetrating and other times off ball running his guy through all kinds of picks or decoying away from basket to keep other teams best defender (assuming best defender will be on Adams) away for the action.
Can really invent a scenario where this team with a Gilbert and the red shirt kid stepping up help make 2019 a team a lot like the 2014 team which won a championship but was also one offensive rebound, put back and foul shot (by a guy who just never did this) away from a one and done.

The BY Man: someone who could be told he just won the lottery, whisked to suite at a five star hotel, where he is plied with his favorite food and beverages, and then multiple Victoria's Secret models escort him to the bedroom for some "entertainment". His response upon entering the room: "man that painting is ugly". No negative can ever go without comment, even in a sea of positives.
 
What makes the Boneyard the Boneyard is that I knew this was going to turn into an Ollie bashing thread as soon as I saw the title despite him not being referenced once. You have no idea how deep it is that you can all be triggered by the same phrase that means absolutely nothing to every other segment of the world's population.

For the record, ten toes in was kind of cheesy and I have a strange attachment to escalators that I refused to give up even at the height of his success. Like I really, really like escalators - to the point as a grown adult I'll abandon everything I'm doing just to ride them up and down.

That being said anyone who thinks Ollie was just spouting cliches is a disgrace and I really question what went wrong in your life. The man was a god damned quote machine. I mean seriously this is a take I'd expect from whaler but even he'd feel bad about it, @Tenspro2002 delete your account.

You do realize the “apologista” posts you and others have been complaining about would mostly fade away if people didn’t express similar anger with stupid, inconsequential stuff (Ollie-isms, his speech patterns) as they did actual problems (in-game coaching, recruiting, player development), right?

Well apparently I've already died on about twelve different hills in the last month, so I don't really have much to lose. I'll give you credit for at least expressing that opinion before the tide started to turn on KO, but I'm being generous calling it an opinion. You shouldn't be allowed to have that opinion. It's a fact that KO was inspiring for at least the first couple years.
