Targeting 7'3 Center St Mary's Andrew McKeever

Didn't he have a do not contact ....

When players have a do not contact, it's less that they know where they're going than that they know where they're not going. They just do not want to field 200 contacts.

I saw one player who had been contact by Kentucky and Marist.

Even if they don't offer, if you're contacted by Kentucky, you really do not need to be bothered by Marist.

Diop and Hines are both strong rim protectors, it’s also prolly McKeever’s biggest weakness currently, even at 7’3” he averaged like .5 blocks in over 23 minutes a game

We're essentially replacing Reibe with McKeever. May be a higher upside due to his height but I think he'll contribute like Reibe did or was projected to do without the drastic drop off at the end of the season.

You never saw Mara play at UCLA then!

Mara played 33 games at UCLA and started a total 8 , Averaged 13 mins , 6.5 pts, 4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks a game as a sophomore and was much worse as freshman.

McKeever played 33, started 10 games, averaged 23 mins a game, 8 pt, 9 rebounds .8 blocks

So Mara's per 40 stats were better (except rebounding) against better competition. Thanks.

can’t help with think, clingan would have carved mara up

He would have pushed Mara around. Stronger and a better athlete. It's why the 24 team rolls against 26 Michigan. Mara is what made that team special, and Clingan negates him.

My point in the comparison between Mara and McKeever isn't that I wouldn't want him or that he's not good. It's that expecting him to be Mara is probably way too optimistic.

I think Hines and McKeever would be too expensive. Centers are pricy.
Do you know our budget and what we are paying players? Comment in another thread to the effect that Hurley has a green light to offer whatever $$ and to who he thinks we need.

Maybe opposing teams didn’t bother attacking rim for fear of a block & so he didn’t have as many chances for a block?

No way, I think Hurley will play Hines at the 4 to go with this kid. We were seriously overmatched down low vs Michigan & Hurley won’t let that happen again.
Double bigs??????

Saw this tweet that they’re in on Thiam too. He’s who I want the most. Has proven he can perform at a high level at arguably the best conference.
Me, too. I really would like to see Thiam and Hines as the 2 centers for UConn. If UConn can't get both but rather 1 of those 2, I hope they get Diop from Arizona State even though he has the "do not contact" designation.

As for a PF, I would like someone in the mold of Joshua Jefferson. I know he isn't available as he was a senior for Iowa State, but someone of his ilk that is fairly athletic and is physically powerful with good low post moves, solid 1 on 1 ability, and is a floor spacer (38/110 on 3 pointers for 34.5%).

How would you know, did Hurley tell you???
Don’t get me wrong, I would love Hines here but he has a limited offensive game and his range extends to about 7 feet. I have as good of a chance of being our full time PF.

St Mary's Andrew McKeever
If this is in another thread I missed it
I'm guessing you didn't hear about it because you've been spending every waking hour trying to find us another Karaban!!!
Please tell me I'm right so we can all relax ...
