It could be as simple as Taliek spent 10+ years after college playing basketball and by the time he wanted to start coaching he was battling guys who spent 10+ years coaching basketball.

BUT...
When an assistant moves on to a juicier responsibility, there's always the possibility of everyone moving up a notch, which could get him out of the vestibule and into the club, so to speak.

This truly is an amazing opportunity….how many assistants can say that they played for a national championship winning, HOF coach and also coached underneath another national championship winning, HOF coach? I would guess not many.

One of the responsibilities of a HC is to encourage/promote/advocate on behalf of their staff to pursue their professional dreams and allow them to actualize those dreams with new positions . Inside and outside of the Program.

Taliek deserves that chance.. Got it.. And went with it as he should. Dan Hurley did not stand in his way.. Matter of fact.. Wouldn't at all be surprised if JC/Dan Hurley encouraged Pitino to extend the offer to TB.. Excellent move for TB to strengthen his resume for a HC position down the road.
