Well, we know the big 3 are going to be excellent. That is booked.

1. How much MW and CW fit into the starting lineup. CW was kind of quiet, but did a bunch. MW was very good, and will just get better and better.
2. Mikayla Coombs -- she showed a lot of energy, especially on defense. If she can do that for 10 minutes in the bigger games, that will be very valuable.
3. ONO -- after two silly, quick fouls in the first half, was more aggressive in the second half. Maybe, just maybe, she will ready to contribute meaningfully in March. We shall see.

If I'm Geno I play ONO and Coombs as much as possible. Let those two come in for Collier and KLS. KLS is starting to remind me a bit of a player like Stewie who could go from sleeping to knocking down shots in ten minutes. She's really starting to look like a pro out there in the way she has an all around game and ability to score in a number of ways on all parts of the floor.

.-.
In the first half, he wanted to have only one sub on the floor at once. In the second half, he changed up by putting Ono and Combs on the court together and giving the starting five two minute blows. I suspect he will do that in the VI as well, to see if the second option has any possibility for when the games actually mean something.

I would bet on a seven rotation; whether he puts both subs out there at the same time on a regular basis is still a big question.

I like the fact that Geno is playing the bench more this year then he did last year. The bench outscored Vandy in the 4th quarter which is an improvement over last year.

very refreshing indeed...............of course I think Geno will be far more stingy with his substitutions once games start to get more competitive..........for now it looks like ONO, Coombs and Irwin might will make up the back end of the "Big 8"

Bench point production is not good on this team. The bench have scored 9 points in each game, while the minutes played are the approx the amount of one full quarter of play, for each game. Rebounds were 8 and 6, for each game. Need more help.

I've got it!!!.............just put KLS on the bench!!!!!!...............Sorry couldn't resist...............;)

I thought it was a good, but not great effort. It was basically a 2-fer, and shooting percentages were .559 and .254. Both of those were very good. I thought we were just a little sloppy and slow to loose balls. We also got very few points on true fast breaks, hence a total of only 80. Lou's shot was off from the arc, but she played well otherwise. Phee was a rebounding machine. Crystal looked as if she could drop 30 points if she wanted. Meg scored well, but Phee didn't allow her or anyone else many rebounds. Christyn had some points, rebounds, and assists. I think she could have been a little more aggressive again. Liv showed flashes on the offensive end and Mikayla on the defensive end. We beat Vandy by about twice as many as N.C. State did. For the second game of the season, I'm pretty happy.

The "bench" didn't do squat. Except for Coombs (and she didn't score), the bench play was pretty ugly and the SOS. They scored 9 points in 49 minutes and 5 of those were Ono's. The rest of the bench was 1 for 4 in 33 minutes of play. Pass, pass, pass, cough it up.

By the way, Lou had no threes today. She had 2 games as a junior and 2 games as a sophomore with no made 3's. Her freshman year she had 4 games with no made three's. No need to be concerned Head bang

Her shot was off during shoot around too. However, she got it done from short and mid range. Just an off night is my guess.

Listen we all know the key to this season is the health and vitality of the starting 5. The rest is eye wash.
For me there’s bench players I’m hopeful will improve and will produce in there own way and there’s girls on this team I think will never be any good.

Take aways- Danger is better, Lou is better, Pheese will probably be better, walker is better and Williams one day will probably be good -great.
Our coaching staff is legendary.

Honestly who knows about the rest.

I thought that Justine was in mid-season form. :)

How about the mystery of her 3 point shot tonight?
The tape was misplaced? I thought the Vandy players crowded her on at least 2 of those, but Lou can make those. Lou was the only starter to shoot under .500. Slacker!

FYI: Massey has UConn going undefeated this season. The service has been correct for the last two years, and the Huskies spread in this one was close to Massey's prediction. May the Force be with it.

I'd love to see an undefeated season, but Massey actually has them going 28-2 (with rounding). Just because they are favored to win every game does not mean they are expected to win all of them.

For a more obvious example, if a team were given a 51% chance of winning each of 30 games, it would be pretty clear that no-one thought they would win all 30. In fact, in this example the team really would be expected to win only a fraction more than 30 games.

Against OSU, the bench was playing against the OSU starters and actually increased the lead. I’m not going to criticize the bench for not scoring enough.

Excellent point. If a team were given a 51% chance of winning each of 30 games, they would have only a minuscule chance of going undefeated (.00000017%). If they had a 95% chance of winning each game, their chances of going undefeated would be only 21%. And at a 99% chance for each game, the odds of them going undefeated would still only be 74%.

This is why it's so amazing that UConn has had so many undefeated seasons. More than just "probability" going on here....

Point I made in a post elsewhere. Consider how remarkable it is that UConn has winning streaks of 111, 90 and 70 games. It defers all reasonable expectation.
