Honestly, if I was a Syracuse fan, I would rather a post season ban for next year than the 4 year scholarship reduction. I said this in another thread, but operating with 10 scholarships a year over a four year span, coupled with the possible retirement of Boeheim, is going to hurt.

Does this mean that we win the 6 OT game now?
SWEET
Time to make the T-shirts, Cuse style!
Sorry, I didn't realize Cuse had a year they were clean lately. My bad. That was 2009...so no. Let them keep their 6OT shirts. We will keep the 7 BET titles (to their 3) and our 4 NCs (to their 1). Let them always have that 6OT game as their ultimate achievement!
After the Penn State reductions/removals of penalties, I'd be shocked if much of their scholly penalty sticks, but we'll see.Losing three scholarships (or 12, however you view it) is the biggest penalty. It would have been nice for an additional year of post season ban. The self-penalty in a year 'Cuse wouldn't otherwise qualify is like a tree falling in the woods.
I might be in the minority but I agree with a few that getting banned next year would have been worse than the schollies.
Cuse has a strong class coming in, some of them would have splintered off - maybe most...and a disgraced Boeheim likely would have thought about retiring.
Plus I have no doubt that the NCAA turtles in a few years of Cuse all of a sudden acting holier than thou and these scholly reductions are halved at the very least.
The difference between Penn State and Syracuse is that technically, Sandusky and Paterno didn't break any NCAA rules. After the Penn State reductions/removals of penalties, I'd be shocked if much of their scholly penalty sticks, but we'll see.
I think this was the NCAA's way of looking tough (although really tough would have been a ban next year) but they will turn into paper tigers once Cuse keeps their nose clean for a year or two and plays in some of the greatest regular season games of all time against Duke**
**Assuming ESPN and Boeheim keep spinning the hype machine.
