First if all I would love to get some body to verifying at this actually occurred. I have a feeling 90 percent of the article is embellished and occurred between the writers ears. The kid looks like the most physical exertion he is capable of is getting off his ass to get more cheese itz. I understand the need to post something controversial but he needs to think of the athletes and staff that are worki g hard to actually improve this football team. The kids play hard and train hard. They deserve to be supported and not jeered by the school reporters.

Don't let the bastards get you down Coach P. The article was about the kids reaction. These kids never went through the Perno years in the early Big East. Big opportunity this year- lets make the most of it.

If Herbst really said "he's preparing for a winning season" when everyone is celebrating a championship then shame on her, I would have rolled my eyes too. She should have said preparing to beat Michigan or just flat out announced we are winning the league next year.

Set the bar high Herbst.

I actually can't tell if your post is more sarcastic than Fishy's. I guess the potential exists that neither is sarcastic.

Whaler. IM serious. He's just a college kid. I think the board is sometimes too hard on people with differing opinions, but that's just me.

Well, seems to me that article would make a great locker room poster. Hell...... a locker room billboard. You want to light a fire under a teams to motivate not levitate I can't think of a better way than to have the kids stare at that every day till Towson. I guarantee they and the coaching staff will want to hurt something come Aug. 29th.... and Sept. 14th... and Sept. 21st.

The article is terrible.

UConn football is not a joke. Pasqualoni is. If he was really laughed and booed then that is a story, but it doesn't mean that the program is a joke. The program will carry on despite him.

It was kind of a generic insult - I actually regret it now that I've seen him and he's a little overweight.

I don't mind calling a college kid a duck*ing idiot, because they tend to be at that age, but making fun of the way he looks is out of line.

I won't delete it because I have to own up to it, but I am sincerely apologetic for the 'round boy' crack.

The duck*ing article is horse crap, though - I'm sure he wrote it to curry favor with some jackass internet blog editor or whoever. Grow up, kid - and don't go into sportswriting unless starving to death is on your bucket list.

Look, if a kid is fat, a kid is fat. None of this ducking politically correct post- bleeding heart internet posting redacting, trying to make up for some comment nonsense, is going to fix the fact that a kid is fat. What will fix it, is somebody getting in the kids face, getting him to get control of his life, have some priorities, put the Cheetos down, and get in shape. Doing it in a bullying way isn't the best way - but hey - I was watching Herschel Walker's bio the other night, becuase once again, I tried to watch women's hoops but just couldn't, and watched the Pony Excess rerun and Herschel's bio instead. Herschel was a fat kid, that got tired of went along with being fat, and turned himself into the most incredible runnign back in college football history. NFL personnel people don't think UCONN football is a joke, but a fat women's hoops fan writes a piece of trash like this, and it matters?

I'm ashamed of you Fishy. I'm ashamed of myself for actually donating the time to comment here on this crap.

As for college students booing a head coach of the football program? We are 10-14 under P. If Coach P was upset by that, he's got nothing to do but look at his record so far, and change it.

Uh, no, I don't think telling a kid to "put down the Cheetos" is going to work. As a format fat kid, I assure you, there is a complex set of psychological issues going on behind the scenes and verbally abusing people isn't the answer. Fat kids get insulted more than enough, by their peers and themselves, I promise.

I understand we are a little too PC, and I get the pushback, but being a huge jerk isn't the answer, either.

Oh I'm sure the kid feels much better now Fishy now that he knows that he is so fat you actaully feel badly about mocking him about it. I have to believe that knowing that he needs to grow up and will never be successful in your view significantly softened the round boy crack.

Having kids has really made you a pretty sensitive guy.

Oh -but it's ok for this schmuck, hack writer to be a jerk, and not just a jerk in a small circle.....ha! circle jerk...didn't even mean to do that.......but to put out a piece of writing like this for the entire world to see is ok?

THis is the kind of that drives me nuts. The best course of action, for an individual that is unhappy about something having to do with themselves, is to get off their own ass and change something, not expect the entire society around them to change.

Let's be honest - his writing does not exactly ripple with genius and he's obviously pandering to someone, but the starving-to-death thing is more a comment on the state of his chose profession.

We still talk about the 'horde', but in reality, there's like four of them left - the profession is going away.

Personally, I'm quite impressed that Pasqualoni even knows we have a women's basketball team. Shows he cares about the school.

I try not to lower my standards for acting like a human being based on the worst examples I can find. Just cause some other guy is a colossal douchenozzle doesn't mean I want to race him to the bottom of human dignity.

Though I admit I come up short now and again. ;)

We get much higher quality journalism for free from Tuxedo Yoda and TheFishofWV.

If he hopes to make a career in communications, he needs to learn how to be courteous, generous to others, pleasurable to read, and intelligent. He is 0 for 4 right now. If this was in his portfolio, who would hire him? No one wants to read c*** like this.

Worse than mere incompetence, he's smearing his own school. Good people like others, and like them more when they are close, so they like those closest to them the best; bad people dislike others, and dislike those closest to them the most. By being so negative toward his own school and those associated with him, he's proving himself untrustworthy and intrinsically negative. Why would others want to surround themselves with such a person?

It's entirely appropriate for Fishy to warn him that his career prospects are nil. Maybe he can turn things around before he graduates, but there's a lot of competition and he's far off course.

why the hell are you booing the football coach in a setting like that unless he's 1-11 or he's letting a child predator hang around showers. Sometimes its better to just shut up if you don't have anything nice to say. For his warts, and he does have some, he's proving to be a pretty good recruiter when the football team is at it's weakest moment regarding conf. realigment. The kids he brought in are pretty damn good.

Embarassing.

Still remains to be seen. A recruit is only as good as what into what the coach is able to develop him. Stars don't mean anything once a recruit strolls between the confines of North and South Eagleville Road.

Can we stop acting like Edsall left PP the keys to a Masarati?
And you don't need to look at stars to see that at least locally PP is doing a much better job of keeping local talent here than Edsall did.
On the negative side is DeLeone, dear god I agree. But it wasn't PP's fault that his kicker missed 4 FGs against Temple.
I say these things as someone who was shocked and dismayed when PP was hired, believe me. i'm not a superfan.

Anyway, regarding booing him at an event to celebrate the women's hoops team, maybe I'm getting softer as I grow older, but it's not necessary. Boo him at a football game, fine. rip him in the BY, fine. But not at today's event.

But it is his fault that the offense was even in position that it came down to the kicker. That game should have been won long before the last miss.

Incidently, I don't think he should have been booed...at least in that setting.

Did anyone actually hear him get booed and laughed @?? I didn't hear it live and can't find it on any of the taped coverage?

I'm taking the reporter's word for it. Truth in journaism extended to columnists too doesn't it? However it could be the reporter's interpretation. He did site his buddies, afterall.
