My thoughts exactly...Media sounds desperate for any story.
In her very own words she cares: "It would have been really nice to play at home, in the Dome, it’s five minutes away from my house. But when it didn’t happen, there’s not a lot you can do about that. It sucked.""Click Bait' pure and simple!! Does anyone truly believe that with the career Breanna Stewart has achieved and what she is on the precipice of achieving, that she really cares about a December game?
Thanks...In her very own words she cares: "It would have been really nice to play at home, in the Dome, it’s five minutes away from my house. But when it didn’t happen, there’s not a lot you can do about that. It sucked."
Alternatively - what was the Uconn office doing not lining up a series with Syracuse 3-4 years ago ... did they not think Stewart would graduate?!! Looks like they dropped the ball. Maybe we should send a blast in their direction!Pretty weak deflection on Q's part if you ask me: 'We schedule two years out". Two years ago Stewie was the NPOY and a sophomore not some unknown entity. Coppin State was on your radar and UCONN & Stewie wasn't? Come on man!
It's a good thing they didn't line up a home game for DeJanae Boykin, or Sadie Edwards for that matter. I'm pretty sure it's SOP to wait until Senior Year to line up these games.Alternatively - what was the Uconn office doing not lining up a series with Syracuse 3-4 years ago ... did they not think Stewart would graduate?!! I'd hardly blame Uconn for dropping the ball... When is a game schedule released for the upcoming year? In the summer correct? So Syracuse posts their schedule two years in advance? Unlikely... Concessions are made all the time... Maryland agreed to play in the Maggie Dixon Classic at the last minute... So it comes down to willingness...
There is a huge difference between scheduling the exact date of games and scheduling a series with a school. Uconn has scheduled Baylor for a game in the 2016-17 season somewhere in CT at some time, and a return game I believe in the 2018-19 season at Baylor three years out. We have a two year contract with TX, and I believe a four year one with one of the other schools. The conference schedule isn't worked out until August usually so they cannot 'publish' a schedule until that is completed - and most schools use the same facility for MBB, WBB, and often other sports and other non-sporting events. It's a good thing they didn't line up a home game for DeJanae Boykin, or Sadie Edwards for that matter. Statistics show that teams that want to beat UConn play them more than once a year. Seeing them for the first time is tough - the defense and athleticism. Had Syracuse played UConn this year and lost the experience going into tonight would be huge. Also I seem to remember Syracuse did play a home game the same night as UConn played at Colgate and Colgate had a much bigger crowd show up. The Carrier Dome would have had really good attendance if UConn had played there - bottom line they lost out.
But I think in the past 10 years, statics = ND.Statistics show that teams that want to beat UConn play them more than once a year.

So she said it sucked and she would have liked to play at home, that doesn't mean she's making this a revenge thing. They beat Colgate and she probably thought no more about until Syracuse made the FF. No one would be mentioning this otherwise.Thanks...
Coach Q is trying to build his program. Scheduling at big schools is not as easy as one thinks depending on who owns or controls the desired venue. I don't blame him for not wanting to jump through too many hoops or make waves just to accommodate a random team from another conference's last minute request to play just so said random team's star player can play in front of her hometown crowd.
And bring in 10,000 fans? More than all the other homes games combined? Yeah, I guess you're right, it's not worth it....Coach Q is trying to build his program. Again it may not be entirely in his control. I think a lot of people here have a very simplified idea of how a schedule is put together. I can totally buy that it just wasn't going to work on short notice. Plus not every coach wants to run his team through the meat grinder of playing UConn. Not every coach agrees with our philosophy that everyone should want to play us whenever Geno picks up the phone. And bring in 10,000 fans? More than all the other homes games combined?
