Stewart and Silas’ Status For The Tourney

WFSB 3 just showed Silas and Stew jogging into Gampel from Werth for practice, Stew had regular practice gear on as everyone else but it looked like Silas had on full sweats. That could be because it's cold as hell outside though.

If the video showed Silas guarding Stew as he climbed the bus stairs I would be more confident.

And played like them too. I also recall Hilton picking up a late questionable foul that was critical

If such a game took place in 2006 and I’m not saying it did. Their post players did the same thing every time Ed Nelson and to some extent Jeff Adrien offered the most resistance.

UConn’s guard play though is what ultimately did them in. Marcus Williams was the only option they had. If I remember AJ was injured and redshirted and Austrie whom played well early that season didn’t really see the floor later in the year.

I don't know why we would want to relive something such as the alleged game in question, but to expand on Blkknight1's post, in the first half of that supposed game!n Ed Nelson performed very well (especially in comparison to the bigs who were ahead of him in the rotation all season). He saw very little, if any time during the second half of that game.

To expand on a comment BL made, as the four for that alleged team (at least by how they were listed, eye test seemed to agree) was an inch shorter and five lbs lighter than Rudy. His HS team also beat Rudy's in the state semifinals two years earlier. I am still a bit surprised Rudy didn't request matching up with him at the four to settle the score.

Playing small ball 4s wasn't a thing during that time. Rudy also had a reputation for being soft. One Calhoun himself called out and was one of the biggest things he wanted to work on with him.

I don't think anyone could've saw our two first round draft picks who were both conference DPOY candidates not being able to protect the paint against George Mason.

Back to OP- Guess we are waiting for a Hurley pre-game media availability spot (if even then) to hear about Silas/Stewie status or the dreaded game time decision. Clearly need both of their contributions as we advance in the Tournament. Stewie has always been able to level up to tougher comp/games and provides the potential for key minutes when on the floor. Would be great to see him get some of the rust off and get some PT this weekend if ready. Expecting Silas to have a heavier workload. One game at a time.

Good to know-Was not aware of that change. Also allows for Vegas to make their adjustments pre-tip. (jk)

BTW-I believe there's open practice today so there may be some early indications of their status .

I was watching it in a bar in Fairfax that was about 4-5 miles from the GMU campus and got the same reaction. 200 people yelling and screaming for the 'home town' folks. I was crestfallen and I slunk out as well, BUT I had to go home and face my wife and son, both of whom graduated from --- you guessed it ---- George **** Mason. I still get reminded of that every March by one of them.

There is a difference between game conditions and practice conditions. The Tournament sets up for weekend games and week day practice/travel. If he's able- Would rather see him shake off rust in Furman game vs UCLA/UCF winner game. You know Hurley/staff will be re-acclimating him as best they can in practices based on his rehab.

Hope he's able to play. Can be a difference maker off the bench.
