Didn't see it yet, maybe this week. Raked in $220 mil over the weekend, second biggest opening ever. Already made more domestically than Justice League, which has been in theaters for 5 weeks. Thor is at $300 mil but Star Wars should easily cruise past that by the time the holidays are over.

Before next weekend. This isn't a one time deal for many of the people going. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th watchings on tap. And all of us who wanted to avoid the initial rush (read: lightsabers and Vader helmets blocking your view).

Gotta get the fancy seats at the Legacy Place in Dedham. While they're $28, they come with $5 voucher, free popcorn, leather seats you choose in advance, a waiter who will bring you beer/food on command, and, best of all, it's 21+. Makes a great viewing experience. And you get to cut all the losers dressed as wookies.

The Last Jedi doesn't care what you think about 'Star Wars' - and that's why it's great. Review (contains spoilers)
Pretty much agree...

Also, I thought that
had spoiled the movie for me, but luckily
what I thought was a reference to cloning was the cave vision scene. I think we might still find more info on Rey's parentage but that is up to JJ now. And it doesn't matter.

This movie had more in common with the prequals. Milking space cows? Leiah going Mary Poppins through space? A complete filler 30 minutes at the casino releasing animals into freedom? It totally missed the mark, and I'm dumbfounded how it got 94% on the tomato-meter.

The difference between the critics rating and the audience rating is pretty dramatic. The people that liked it are now saying the dislikes are inflated by people that have not even seen the movie, and those that did not like it are saying the critics are bought and paid for by Disney. I don't know about all that, but I know what people were saying coming out of the theater that I saw it at, and it wasn't good. This movie is going to be divisive, but where the story goes from here will eventually settle that.

That's worth $28 alone...

I loved it. But I always love Star Wars so I might not be the best judge. ;)

loved the Yoda scene

Cool. Glad your spoiler was limited since when you reply, it shows the spoiler HTML!! Bastards!

I'm sure I'll love it. I'm exceptionally annoyed at all the idiots spamming RottenTomato, pushing the "liked it" number down to 56%. I find that complete nonsense.

Why are you annoyed with people saying they didn't like the movie? I don't rate films on any of these sites, but if I did I would down vote this one. The more I think on this movie, the more convinced I become that it was a bad movie.

It has a couple of charming moments but it was mostly horrible.

Pretty bad when you are watching Star Wars and the Avengers movie preview looked so much better. Bigtime disappointment.

This is something that really stands out to me. The Marvel films are really planned out and are telling one really large story in a really large universe. Star Wars is failing at this, and that should be clear even to people who liked this movie they just rolled out. I think it says a lot when my 14 year old tells me in the car after Star Wars that "Well, at least we have Black Panther and Infinity War to look forward to". Take this and then pile on the disaster that the Han Solo film is looking like it is going to be, and you can only scratch your head and wonder how Disney is managing to screw up Star Wars. Star Wars for God's sake! How do you manage to screw that up?

Ironically, turns out they were right. People aren't spamming the audience number, the movie is mediocre at best. Good lord.

In fact, as I read through the audience reviews, I'd conclude that the positive reviews are bot spam. One star reviews get paragraphs of explanation. Five star reviews get "Best star wars movie ever" nonsense.

A sad day for the Star Wars universe.

A bunch of nonsense. The whole "oooh, this movie is too smart for you dumb star wars fans" is quite spoiled by the fact that the actual movie is as lazy as the prequels. Quite an accomplishment. At least when they made the prequels, LucasFilm wasn't trying to leverage their size into positive reviews.

I'm not sure which is worse, the lazy movie making, or the insulting tone of these kinds of "reviews".

Wired: This is, like, the smartest dumb star wars movie EVAH!!!11!! eleventy

Just watched it the other day. Now granted I'm not a "super fan" like some but have generally enjoyed past Star Wars flicks.

I left disappointed, and actually caught myself checking the time for when it was gonna end. I blame Disney, they've turned Star Wars into some Pollyanna, melodramatic nonsense... There was some cool parts, but I found myself rolling my eyes half the time. The negative reviews that have come out, are well deserved and have merit. But if you're a superfan, I'm sure you'll just be happy to have another Star Wars episode, but it wasn't good.

I think "super fans" that are defending this are fooling themselves. They're rationalizing why it was good, despite many, very glaring flaws.

I saw something on YouTube about the Cinema Score giving it an A, and that's based entirely on polling immediately following the movie. And I can buy that. Sure, I Probably would have said I liked it as I came out of the theater, but in the time since, it did not age well. Because it's Star Wars, we all WANT to like it, enough that our impression of it can be skewed, at first. A day later, I'm incredibly disappointed, to the point that I'm not particularly interested in where they go with another movie. Talk about an epic failure. The exact opposite of what they accomplished with TFA.

“Hey that idiot Poe just lost all our bombers, we lost our entire fleet, and the dozen or so if us that are left escaped on the Millenial Falcon (sic), but the rebellion is reborn!”.

Watched it tonight. Really liked it. Plot was a sloppy mess and they probably could have skipped the trip to the casino, but it was the most surprising and interesting of any Star Wars movie other than maybe Empire Strikes Back. I want to sleep on it before I re-rank the Star Wars movies.
