St. John's Post Game Thread

He took a shot to the head by Zuby when Zuby stuffed his layup attempt. That was a flagrant foul that for whatever reason wasn't called cuz he got all ball before the punch.

Then, Silas tweaked his ankle when he came back in several minutes later. Game was borderline out of hand then, not sure why he was back in at all.
Is it ankle or calf? It looked more calf to me. Raido said calf as I don't think TV said either.

Too many shooters and not enough athletics to beat a team like St Johns in the Garden with the way the games are refereed in our conference. Just my opinion.
We sacrificed athleticism, quickness, shot creating off the dribble and defense for shooting. Problem is, some of these guys tend to not shoot so well in the biggest games. Nobody loves shooting more than me and it is necessary in college basketball, but we need a blend of players that compliment each other. After a year of watching the guards for teams like Wisconsin. Ohio State, etc..., can we get a guard with some quickness who can create havoc on offense from various spots on the court with the ball in his hands? Also, we need some length and athleticism at the 4 and 5 positions. A rim protector would be nice.

Our supposed top players were duds. They could not take the pressure Pitino put on them. Really sick of high volume Solo being a nonfactor. Our rebounding issue is still an issue. Need athletic forwards who are quick and tough. And Hurley the former point guard needs to recruit or sign better point guards. Pitino punked Hurley tonight.

We missed so many shots at the rim. You have to dunk those shots. Rebounding and 3 point shooting was terrible.
Also. Demary can't in bound the ball.
I can’t remember a single time that Demary has inbounded the ball all season

If we can’t hit threes then we will lose. Ball and Karaban are way to reliant on the three. They can’t hit threes then they don’t score besides an occasional layup. Mullins shot has disappeared I not longer think any of their shots are going in when they shoot anymore.

I guess we have to be happy with a sweet 16 since we blew the big east, if we get there.

30 win team most likely and nothing to show for it.
Yeah….Mullins shot sucked last night. Perspective perhaps

Does anyone on this board who has been a Uconn fan for 35 plus year really think this team can win it? I mean I hope they do, but come on man, all these posts. If you watch and know what has won us nattys this ain't it...no matter matchups..may make a run a few rounds , but SAPs don't win nattys

It's a flawed teams with no shortage of issues, but we just can't get nothing offensively from Mullins/Karaban/Ball since they're all subpar defenders.

We can't shoot and we can't attack the rim.

Since things fell apart vs Creighton, from deep:

Ball: 14/43 (.325, so actually an improvement)
Karaban: 12/42 (.285)
Mullins: 17/58 (.293)

Take out the hot Creighton game for Mullins and he's 11/47 (.234).

Our offense has devolved into feeling way too much like last season.

This Solo is the same as Freshman Solo, he had one awesome year
I am with you....He is not a good player.....he only plays well when he has his shot..otherwise, he doesn't hustle, doesn't box out...etc.....Hopefully with Stewart back, you can use Ross at the 3 and put Mullins at the 2...that would work in games and be better for Mullins..Hell, next year if Mullins comes back, he should start at the 2....Ball is nothing more than a 6th man

been thinking this since earlier in the year, but was always holding out hope I was wrong…

this team ain’t it

we aren’t going to win anything of substance. will be lucky to make it out of the first weekend.

I will continue to support the team as I have at MSG for the past few nights. but in the back of my mind I know they aren’t winning anything.

This game changed nothing for me. We can beat anybody and we can lose to anybody.

The only thing that matters is Silas’ health
Play like today or vs Marquette, and 15 Furman, UMBC, Siena, Queens, or Troy takes them out in round 1.

This team is giving me way too much 2006 vibes of late, but that team had more raw talent to overcome a feisty Albany team. Not sure these guys do if they bring tonight's stink to thurs/fri.

Why would any UConn fan give up all hope like that... I guess you don't remember 2014, when they lost to Louisville in the season finale by 30+

Tarris played his testiculos off, so major props to him. He competed without looking scared. Can't say that for many others.

We are always going to struggle against athletic teams, and their 2, 3, and 4 absolutely outplayed ours on both sides of the court.

I still believe we can beat just about anyone, but it's more about matchups.

We have one guy who can handle the ball and create offense. One.

We will need major upgrades athletically to this roster, especially at the 4 and 5.
Anyone that blames Tarris for this loss is out of their mind. I will say it again, I am not sure this is a great shooting team. Missing many wide open 3s or struggling to get shots can be a recipe for early defeat in the NCAAT.

Any update on Silas injury? Had to be helped off the court the 2nd time. Why in the world would you put him back in when the game was essentially decided!?!

Reed plays very hard. But how is it that’s he’s much bigger than Sanogo but a much less effective rebounder? His positioning and rebounding angles arent great. We got destroyed by offensive rebounds and second chance points among other things.
