St. John's Post Game Thread

No athleticism, 3 point shooting, and driving ability. No nba talent either. The one that will go looked like a middle school kid out there tonight. Going to be a busy off season. We will need a lot of help.
Time to break it all up. The majority of the roster, th formula, the offense, the staff etc. it’s stale and solved. We need to evolve. 2023-24 doesn’t work anymore. Our lack of athleticism from 1-5 is astounding.
If you told me before the season, a month ago, two weeks ago that the only player I want to see moving forward is Jaylen Ross, I would have laughed at you. I do now. (Assuming Braylon is gone)

Does anyone on this board who has been a Uconn fan for 35 plus year really think this team can win it? I mean I hope they do, but come on man, all these posts. If you watch and know what has won us nattys this ain't it...no matter matchups..may make a run a few rounds , but SAPs don't win nattys
Maybe stop calling college kids SAPs? Pretty sure this team is more talented than 2014. You’re a grown man, stop calling kids SAPs.

Don't have a stomach to follow all of this.

SJ made plays from the jump and jumped out to a big lead. Our guys couldn't match their play.

That allowed the Johnies to build a ton of confidence and play agressively and with energy.

Got it down to 7 late, had a few squanders that shifted the momentum back to them.

Zuby was outstanding. Reed was good and bad. SJ was the better team tonight.

Turn the page, hope that Demary is okay and get ready for the next challenge.
Those squanders at 7 killed us.

That possession where they had 4 chances and missed them all was the death blow.
Yup. 2 of the 4 misses were open 3s missed by Mullins and Ball. Ball had so much time to shoot his with no one within 10 feet of him. If any of those 3s go down, we are looking at a 7 pt deficit with real game pressure on St John's and the Garden rocking.

The team had to know the first 4 minute were critical that St. John’s was gonna come out throwing haymakers.

Didn’t help that in our first couple of possessions we tried to force the issue with Tarris and not try to work it to him within the offense.

Needed to take care of the ball and did not do that at all.

This team is built soft. We have no true backup PF. And AK isn’t athletic or powerful at the 4. Then no one who can get to the rim above the rim. AK has skills but not those on a team that doesn’t have toughness at the guard spots like his championship teams.

That possession with maybe 6 minutes left where we could have cut it to 6 or 7, got 3 offensive rebounds and bricked all 3 shots is where we lost it. Onto the next one.

I believe we bricked 4 shots but whose counting

Could not agree more.
We are absolutely not a team that can string 6 wins off, that I am confident in. Elite 8 ceiling.
Anyone that blames Tarris for this loss is out of their mind. I will say it again, I am not sure this is a great shooting team. Missing many wide open 3s or struggling to get shots can be a recipe for early defeat in the NCAAT.
Tarris is all that kept us in it for most of the game.

2024 would work if we had the right players. We have a shortish, non dynamic, cold shooting 2 that can't defend. We brought in a dude that looks 14 as our go to guy on offense, who is primarily a 3 pt hoister. We have a 4 who plays slow and unathletic, and is also primarily a jump shooter. This is just another lousy year of roster construction.

He is so, so, so far from being an NBA player.

Maybe he will be at some point, but there’s not one part of his game that you would consider elite right now. He’s a good shooter, but past that….what does he do?
This isn’t remotely true. Even now, outside of the confines of this very stale offense, Braylon is different than everyone on the floor.

“If Mullins comes back” should not even be a phrase uttered anymore. They is NO CHANCE Mullins comes back, he is a sure thing first round pick, close to a high lottery pick. The delusion must end.
I'm not sure I would take him in the top 20. He hasn't shown enough of a consistent outside shot and really can't take anyone off the dribble. He needs weight. I can see 20-30 is where he should go. If that is good enough for him than yeah he isn't coming back.

Go out and get some athletes and some guys with attitude.

Go out and get you a killa kam and an Ajax.

Go get some dawgs. Too many nice guys on this team we need some guys that want to snatch the hearts of other teams.

Go out and get some energy guys. Some guys that can make plays that get the other guys going.

Go out and get a guard that wants the ball in his hands whe the team is struggling to that can score get fouled or set someone else up to score.
We said that last year.
