St. John's Post Game Thread

Finally calmed down enough to post. That was God awful. Pisss post. Terrible. Dreadful. Embarrassing. And any other negative word you want to throw out there.

Someone may have already asked, but when was the last time the Huskies scored 52 points or less? I'm at a loss for words over how bad that was.
2019 @ cinci

This season will be a roller coaster. Im not saying we will win 6 in a row now, but we will come out of this loss and surprise the non believers in the non conf. Hope we dont play SJU in the ncaas though.

I couldn't believe there was no update from the broadcast team, but Gus Johnson doesn't even know where he is. Joe Arruda on Twitter said he had to be helped off. Hoping he is ok.
Any other updates on Demary besides this? Haven't read past the 3rd page of this thread.

The Huskies’ coach provided a positive update on his point guard, Silas Demary Jr., who had to be helped into the locker room with three and a half minutes remaining. He was told that it was a “very mild (ankle) sprain with no swelling.”

“Obviously we’ll take precautions with an X-ray,” he said. “We’ll keep our fingers crossed. I mean, it didn’t look– hopefully it’s not something that lingers.

I honestly can’t wait to quote so many of these posters next week.
Proof people need to relax and check themselves before they spew their angst on here
did you get a badge to be board policeman, or just the burger king crown? Let people vent, but make sure to virtue signal away and write all their names down

Why would any UConn fan give up all hope like that... I guess you don't remember 2014, when they lost to Louisville in the season finale by 30+
I hope you're right and believe it could happen If we had a backcourt like Bazz and Boat, but Ryan and Shabazz aren't walking through that door (to paraphrase a famous quote from Pitino).

Extremely generous of you to refer to people calling it the most unenjoyable UConn team ever, ripping Mullins as an NBA prospect, and guaranteeing they lose to a 15 seed as “venting” lol

.-.
I expected to lose this game, but not a total no show. We have too many games where multiple players struggle. Inexplainable team. Dominant first two games, St. John's played relatively close games, and then torches us. I can't dispute Hurley's national title success, but Pitino routinely outcoaches him head to head.

Yup

IMO Hurley has not done a good job with this year’s team. I do not believe that this year’s team has not improved as the season has progressed.

I hope Hurley proves me wrong in the NCAA Tourney.

what is it then? I think thatd be the definition. all three are bogus takes, and to say them now after that performance would be venting

ESPN has him at 13 in a recent mock draft and CBS has him at 25 in another. It sounds like he could go late in the lottery or drop a bit further in the first round.
He is a kid gm’s drool over. He is closer ro 13. The libel on this board is insane.

Have not read all 17 pages so this may be repetitive, but that was a very "physical" game. St. Johns is bigger and stronger and took advantage of the way the game was refereed, particularly for the first 10 minutes. UConn was not ready for it.
If the games are officiated that way in the tournament, St. Johns will go far. If not, not so much.
UConn should not read too much into this loss. The team can beat anyone, so, no panicking.

It was very apparent how SJU was going to defend us and what they were going to take away, but not only couldn’t we counter that effectively, it didn’t seem like we tried to use a different style of attack to counter it. That was troubling.

Why in the world would he have done that? Seriously, you just inbounded. In the corner. To a freshman. Center. Against thee press team. Why the weren’t you ready to get that ball right back.
Well, they weren't in the corner. Otherwise, good point

Yeah, and for everyone besides Reed to not show up for a big game is a head scratcher. Where are those "Ball is NBA player" posters now?
UCONN showed up. However, they were defeated by a better team and HOF coach. It's that simple. St. John's has won the Big East Regular Season titles and BET back to back. UCONN has also lost 4 of 5 to Pittino and St. John's.

And folks have the nerve to act is if winning our conference doesn't matter. It matters to coach Hurley and it should matter to UCONN nation.

It's taken a few years and it's time that we get off of the high horse a bit. When you talk the talk you gotta walk the walk. We do not have the Dogs on this team to do that.

We all ate a ish sandwich tonight. Recruiting wise, Hurley and staff will need to go back to the drawing board. There is an overreliance on analytics that is failing this team in key situations. There are times where you have to go with and trust your gut instinct.

Hurley will learn from this.

I’m a fan and like a lot about his game. But I think if Mullins goes pro he’s going to spend a lot of his first year in the league working on his body to get bigger and stronger.

Proof in the pudding that the BE is gifting AK awards for lifetime achievement - he made the all BET team, lol. Like his first team BE vote. He was awful tonight and in the semis. Really waters these things to meaningless.

I'm honestly really disappointed in him and he just looks tired being in college. Guy has looked lifeless in his last BE reg season game, reg BET game. Can he bring it in the tourney?

It’s being an overly negative hater. Winning B2B titles has truly broken so many people on this board.

That loss tonight sucked for all of us. We’ve also won 2 of the last 3 championships and are a going to be a 2 seed this year. Life could be worse.

.-.
Well -they just beat us.
To be fair their game more often than not doesn’t translate well in NCAA tournament play. I still like UConn to advance further wuthout seeing the matchups yet.

Funny thing is, no one said any of those things. Someone said it was the least enjoyable Hurley team at UConn, someone else said they wouldn't be surprised if we lost to a 15 seed, and no one said Mullins is not an NBA prospect, they just said they think he needs another year

Amen

A bad game, maybe the worst I've experienced in the BET

We can't shoot, I don't get it, because I've seen this team shoot. How have they lost their confidence?

We can beat anyone, or we can lose too

Our crowd was sensational, we did our best to pick them up

Moving on to the dance. Let's go Huskies

Lots of dumb comments about roster construction and coaching in this thread. It’s a simple analysis:

1) We have a talented roster that is one of the best 5-6 teams in the country
2) We need to shoot 30% from 3 to beat top 25 teams
3) Our offense requires freedom of movement which we generally don’t get with the physicality/officisting in our league.

When #3 doesn’t happen it often causes us to also miss out on #2. 2 of our 3 Q1 losses came against the most physical team in the country. The other came while missing 2 of our starters. The sky isn’t falling.
