Ball made a few bad plays down the stretch but Ross came in with us down 5 and left with us down 4 so it was hardly an egregious choice at the timeDefense lost this game, and Silas has got to be more aggressive from the jump, he's our best player. Also, I was disappointed that Dan Hurley opted to close with Solo instead of JRoss when we were making a run with JRoss in the game.
He was called for a couple ticky tack fouls where he was in position.A road game vs a Quad 1 team.
Tarris Reed went from King Kong to Ding Dong.
Solo Ball and Braylon Mullins...what are we doing here? Hurley and Mullins have to figure this combo out.
Silas and Alex are warriors.
UConn is a Title contender. Tonight was tough. Hurley was not at his best.
Darius Adams was not coming here to play 10 minutes off the bench. He’s also been terrible at Maryland.Hurley dropped the ball again at the backup PG spot. We were better off keeping the kid that left for Maryland, cause Smith ain't it. He doesn't even look like a rotation player.
Disagree. The dunk on Zuby and the talking after sealed it for me. What did AK do besides let Hopkins get in his head?AK had a better game than Silas.
Malachi was less than a Dayton player tonight. No idea who that guy was that took the court.SJU outscored UConn 13-1 during the 4 minutes that Malachi Smith played. Demary can't play 40 minutes and be effective late. We need someone to give him a rest.
him and a billionaire 🤣Pitino has turned saint John’s around. These Madison square garden games used to feel like home games for UConn.
Unfortunately this is literally Malachi’s nightmare matchup. He just really struggles with this kind of pressure and physicality.SJU outscored UConn 13-1 during the 4 minutes that Malachi Smith played. Demary can't play 40 minutes and be effective late. We need someone to give him a rest.
They have a coach who is very, very good.Well that sucked.
Some missed called by the refs at the end but that's not what lost us the game. We 100% lost this.
Here is to hoping we learn from this.
St John's is legit.
The problem is he can't rest because Malachi has turned into a pumpkin in Big East road games.Silas was both good and bad. Good resilience but too many turnovers and missed FTs. Too many issues getting the ball in against pressure. Great moment was AKs long three.
Silas = almost player of the game. Those lazy, not paying attention turnovers turned momentum so many times.Disagree. The dunk on Zuby and the talking after sealed it for me. What did AK do besides let Hopkins get in his head?
ross had some game killing turnovers...The fact that we don't have a reliable 6th man is also a problem. 6 points from the bench is atrocious. Need Stew and/or Ross to stop being passengers.
The sloppiness was caused by St John’s ball pressure D. Everyone keeps saying in forced errors but for the most part Johnnie’s forced us to play faster and play more one on one which isn’t our game and it led to 15 turnovers. With about a minute left, they had shot 15 more free throws than us, we had turned the ball over a ton, gotten out rebounded... And we still were right there. Some egregiously bad calls/no calls (the Silas push was the worst one IMO) but had we not played so sloppy we still win that game despite the officials.
As navery said this was a much needed wake up call. Confident we will rebound from this and be better in the long run.
9 TOs. Holy #$%&. Just took a look at the box score.Silas had 9 turnovers....he was not amazing.
That kid wasn’t coming here to backup Silas.Hurley dropped the ball again at the backup PG spot. We were better off keeping the kid that left for Maryland, cause Smith ain't it. He doesn't even look like a rotation player.
