Wrong. Do a search and literally every single answer comes back to football. Not sure what you think DOES have to do with an invite.

UConn hasn't been invited to a P4 conference primarily due to its struggling football program, which lacks the consistent success, high revenue, and viewership that major conferences prioritize over elite basketball success. While the Huskies have a top-tier basketball brand and good academics, their poor football ranking, low booster revenue, and lack of a strong conference television market make them a less attractive expansion target compared to other institutions.
Here is a breakdown of why UConn remains an independent:
- Football Performance: The driving force behind conference realignment is football strength, and UConn's program has struggled significantly, making it less attractive to the ACC or Big Ten.
- Low Revenue & Attendance: Despite successes in basketball, UConn falls short in booster revenue and has limited stadium capacity, ranking last among potential ACC expansion peers, according to Reddit.
- Failed Big 12 Pursuit: The Big 12 was interested in adding UConn specifically for basketball, but talks stalled in 2024 because the football program did not meet their standards, as discussed on YouTube.
- Declined Pac-12 Offer: In October 2024, UConn declined a football-only offer from the Pac-12, prioritizing their basketball home in the Big East over the travel costs and logistical issues of a coast-to-coast conference, as reported in this YouTube video.
- Geographic Challenges: As an independent, UConn has struggled to secure a permanent home that keeps their elite basketball program in a power conference while hosting
Wow. I'm not sure why you are taking this so personally, but I'm happy to explain the basis of my thoughts, which are a little more complicated than AI generated commentary.
First, are you aware that Connecticut football finished 9-4 the last two seasons, and was invited to the Fenway bowl at the close of both seasons beating UNC in 2024? Itkind of seems like you don't follow the team at all and weren't aware of that.
So you asked, why weren't we invited to another conference? That's a complicated question because being admitted to a P4 conference has been a moving target with different standards at different times. Are you aware that Connecticut was originally targeted to be invited with Syracuse back in 2013? At that time, Boston College reached out to the other ACC teams and indicated that they "wanted to be the New England team." that was how Pittsburgh got its invite instead of us. The Boston College athletic Director explained all this in a Boston Globe article at the time.
Similarly, the Louisville Athletic Director at the time it joined the ACC was quoted as saying "Connecticut was written in in pen, not in pencil" but that he reached out and lobbied the southern ACC schools and "stole the invite" at the last moment." Again this was reported on in the papers. If you're really curious, I can Google the links for you, but honestly, you could do it for yourself.
For what it's worth, Connecticut beat Louisville when they played each other just before they got the invite. So it wasn't as if Connecticut was an inferior team. Again, this has been reported in the papers, FSU wanted a southern team in flexed its muscles, putting its finger on the scale for Louisville. Susan Herbst and Warde Manual had been told, by tobacco road school officials that we were the choice to replace Maryland in that expansion.
Are you aware that Connecticut has been to a BCS bowl? That was the equivalent at the time of being in the playoffs now.
Connecticut also was seriously considered to join the big 12, however, once the PAC 12 fell apart, conference presidents chose to expand using existing P4 teams. Had the pack 12 remained intact. We'd be in the big 12 right now.
All of this stuff is well-known and pretty fundamental. If want to learn more, take a look at
