Sparks @ Lynx - 5/20/18

I am talking about this game not her past college games. Get real ...

This is her first ever WNBA game and I didn't see any of her games when she was playing overseas, so college is all I have to go on.

Lynx went up 8 early in the Q3, but now the Sparks are on a 14-0 run. Nneka has 14 points. Whalen and Augustus have been virtual no-shows today.

Bird got a shout out for being the oldest player in the W. One of the announcers incorrectly gave that distinction to Brunson earlier in the broadcast.
Brunson was in the same class as Diana. Sue is 2 years older.

Brunson was the BE FOY, over Diana. She has the most WNBA championships, 1 with Sacramento and 4 with Minnesota.

Other surprises for the conference FOY:

Jewell over Stewie

Sugar over Skylar

Kitija over Lou

In contrast, Maya was the BE FOY and POY. She was the FOW 10x, breaking Rebecca’s record of 7x.

If you don't see too much her games in pre-season and regular season WNBA or oversea then stop your blames on her now.

So...there's no statute of limitations on reviewing plays? They took away a Nneka 3 pointer from about several minutes before halftime.

They always review made close 3pt shots on delay so they don't interfere with the game flow. A very reasonable concession.

Karlie 1-5 behind the arc now I think

I like her, I'm glad she got a chance to play w/ the Sparks. She's having a tough debut, but surprising to me that she's playing more than players like Wiese and Pondexter.

Now 1-6.

Lynetta Kizer doing what she did for CT, a force on the floor.

regular season WNBA

There have been none of these. Today is the first. Preseason really doesn't tell you that much. I'm pretty sure Jordin Canada isn't Seattle's best player, but if you only paid attention to preseason you might think she is.

I knew Minnesota was struggling w/ turnovers, but they have 20 through 3 quarters. Wow.

End of discussion, you do have a BM.

LA playing with defensive intensity. Arms waving all the time. Very Genoish. But the Lynx are also helping with really sloppy play and Maya is not playing like Maya. :(

Minnesota back w/in 4 (was 10 at one point).

LA clinging to 65-63 lead, called a TO, about 5 minutes left.

Feel bad for the BY's who felt this game was soo boring they turned it off.:confused:.

Sloppy game to be sure but very intense and fun to watch imho.

Whalen and Fowles have stepped up down the stretch. Fowles just picked up her 5th foul (WNBA has 6 fouls, didn't realize that).

Sparks retake the lead 71-68, just under 3 minutes left.

73-70 LA, timeout to Minnesota, 1:05 left. 23 turnovers for the Lynx.

75-74 LA 33.5 seconds left, LA ball after a timeout.

Come on Maya. This is your time. We need a game winner.

3 rattles out just before shot clock expires, Lynx grabs the rebound, calls a TO. 8.2 seconds left w/ a chance to win on the last possession.
