Wilson knows McCowan can't guard her tight anymore.
But...it doesn’t matter if they won’t drive the ball at her.

South Carolina reminds me of 2008 Tennessee but not as good. Post championship hangover for most of the season. Turn it on in March led by an elite player. Like last year they are under the radar coming into March.
She is very proud of herself. She is sure she is NPOY, even if some of us are not convinced.whoa. A'ja scores a great basketball and celebrates while play is on. Has to hustle to get back in the action.
They'd be administering oxygen to Geno if she were on UConn.....

I do not think that she is NPOY, but I do believe she will get the awardAgree that Wilson has locked in NPOY with this victory. Disappointing outing for Miss State, which certainly looks beatable.

They'll probably give Wilson as the MOP. I would give it to Harris of So Carolina.
Wilson played AWESOME! As noted, She will win some of the 4/5POY awards, KLS needs to put her mark on the AAC Tournaments to garner talk.I do not think that she is NPOY, but I do believe she will get the award
Major implications for seeding in the tournament. SC’s win keeps them out of Albany. Not sure how you keep South Carolina out of Lexington as the 2 seed. Blew out 3 ranked teams in 72 hours including #2 undefeated.
Miss State absolutely has a South Carolina problem. They looked defeated from the start. Terrible body language.

such a good summary. thanks!Congrats to SC. I was rooting against them but they thoroughly outplayed Mississippi State. Mississippi State played arguably their worst game of the season today. Rebounding was awful, McCowan was a no show, Vivians struggled, and the three point threats of her, Schaefer, and Johnson combined for 3-18 shooting from deep. On the year they shoot 40, 42, and 43% from deep. I doubt you'll see them shoot that poorly again.
Aside from that, they missed a ton of layups and just didn't look confident out there. When they play with poise and confidence, they're a much better team than South Carolina. SC definitely had the mental edge today and that was the biggest difference.
On a side note, it really is notable how significant the mental edge is when playing. SC has it over Mississippi State, but they look so defeated every time they play Connecticut. Mississippi State looked defeated today, but last year they played with so much confidence against the Huskies. Same scenario with Notre Dame/Louisville/UCONN. Louisville plays with much more confidence against Notre Dame than they did against the Huskies, and Notre Dame plays with more confidence against UCONN than they have against Louisville. Anytime heavy weights go head to head in the tournament, I think the more confident team is going to win the game, and it will likely be evident early who has the mental edge.
