If they want the stands packed AND keep it near the HOF, they need to:
  • Make it a UConn game;
  • Make the opponent a nearby team (Syracuse, Rutgers, maybe an Ivy League team...)
  • Ensure that the schools include tix in the season ticket holder package for both teams.
Face it; UConn has the top fan base in the country over the past couple of decades. We'll put several thousand into that arena, and schools like Syracuse, RU, Princeton, Harvard...they'd put another couple in there at least. Add in the locals and you have your 9k.

BUT...that would make it another National Showcase for UConn, which would annoy the Haters. SO...IMO, you can either make this successful WITH UConn, or what it is today, without. It seems foolish to have this game 30 miles away from THE perennial power in WCBB and not take advantage of the proximity. That is, unless you don't care about attendance.
 
Better yet, don't have it in Springfield; it's dead here. Hindsight is 20/20. I should have driven back to NYC after the game.

I disagree... if you in the area and you let traffic stop you thats your business. I came from Hartford to watch the game, parked in a open lot ($10.00) across the street from the arena... no problems except leaving due to not being familiar with the area but my GPS on my phone definitely helped.
And I may not go see UConn vs TNCha Tuesday and I'm in walking distance (since I'm not working I may go tho because its a rare chance to watch them in person)

Texas has been quite disappointing, so far, but they could put it together at any time. As long as Alaina Coates keeps playing on fire, we're not losing.

I didn't encounter much traffic except a little around Hartford. There was some construction in Springfield, but traffic wasn't that bad.

they said the media cut off the Moore part, she didn't complained but this season decided that she wanted to make it an effort that everyone said it correctly

I'm sure if it was a bigger crowd there would have been more gridlock but it wasn't bad. I don't normally far in parts unknown but it was a Sunday early afternoon and I knew I could handle it. That downpour of rain was a surprise for a moment tho

Well, it was certainly not an insult. Closer to a joke. More like when you send an email and intend an attachment but forget to attach it, and someone writes back and lets you know you forgot to attach it. Sometimes it's a straightforward FYI and sometimes there's some levity attached to it. So it was a light-hearted attempt to point out you had posted something with no message, in case you weren't aware. It's happened to me and probably many.

I meant nothing by it.

The second half defense adjustment that Dawn made after halftime was masterful.. completely took Asia Durr out of the game, by Tyasha Harris no less.. who's a freshman. Kudos to her and Dawn. That's huge for her confidence going forward..

I'm sure Karen Aston is going to throw the entire kitchen sink at us.... a home game versus the #3 team in the country.. I can totally envision Texas playing WAY over their heads that night.

As boisterous as I am as a fan at games, I'm too shy to go up to players and coaches one on one. I was at an event and a friend asked Dawn to take a picture with me, which is now on my credenza at work. I would have never asked her, otherwise.

I saw A'ja Wilson's brother at the men's game in Brooklyn yesterday and saw her family from afar at the game today.

I don't think Durr is involved in the offense enough, I think everything should go thru her, she's a 2G, SG but doesn't do much but go to the corner and get the ball when others are in trouble. I don't know if its her or the coach's game plan

I met a lot of Aarion Bradshaw's family today too. Nice people. I think it was her mom or sister.. but whoever it was she's the splitting image of "AB"..

She typically does a lot more during games. Their offense runs through her.. She's one of those guards that can take over a game and beat you by themselves and when she plays better EVERYBODY plays better, so the earlier you eliminate that threat, the better. If you look at the post game pressers you'll hear that SC's main goal defensively was to harass Durr and make every shot difficult for her and it worked... so effectively in fact that Durr was mostly absent in the 2nd half.

If SC was going to lose today it wasn't going to be by the hands of Asia Durr... our defense intended to force other players to step into roles that they weren't quite prepared for. With Durr being suffocated and Hines-Allen in foul trouble all game.. all of the pressure was on Mariya Moore and she can't do it all against Allisha Gray and Alaina Coates and Kaela Davis and A'ja Wilson and others..

guess that's the problem of watching games live... don't hear the commentary or see the replays BUT Coach Jeff is mean to the refs, all he does is bitch and moan.
I was impressed with Gray and Davis, dang... but I didn't want to clap too hard cause I was sitting with Durr's mom!

Allisha Gray is so skilled attacking the basket. She has one of the prettiest changeups at the rim that I've seen in WCBB in quite a while. She had a layup today in transition that was just beautiful.. seeing it on TV is one thing, but in person it's quite the sight.

Apparently, it's a tradition in Spain to use both parents' name in the hyphenated form. Those of a "certain age" will remember tennis player Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario and her explanation when she added her mother's maiden name after winning the French Open. I'm not sure of Cuevas' heritage, but if her father is Spanish, she may be using her mother's maiden name as per tradition.
