South Carolina Postgame Thread

My point is from the video he believed Dawn didn’t behave well in his eyes and he felt disrespected. The question is someone like Geno who is a very smart and knows how to read people wouldn’t get THIS upset i there’s something minor in his eyes or that according to you he doesn’t know what he’s talking about or had a memory lapse. Take a step back, my wife who’s in law always tells me take a step back and try to understand the what would make someone react this way. If Dawn shook his hand and hugged him do you really think that’s all to it for him to go bonkers. Come on Old Dude out of all people I would’ve thought you’d see that there’s more to this.
My point is that there is no evidence supporting Geno’s side of things and there is clear video evidence that contradict both Geno’s contention that Dawn didn’t shake his hand before the game and that Sarah had her shirt torn by one of the SC players.

I think the world of Geno. I would love for there to be some evidence to explain his otherwise unexplainable behavior.

.-.
A lot of my amigos have concerns of my constant looking into the future...
But I do have concerns
I expect there will ramifications...
-Discipline or being chastised (by the NCAA, UConn prez? some other entity,,,congressman from SC)?

This is not blowing over, I fear.
The matter has overshadowed the game
A great shame
I thought Dawn was quite gracious in her interview
just after, under the circumstances.

Well Madison Booker is 3-23 tonight. So I guess by the reasoning on display by many here Vic must have been "Outcoached".
By the way the fouls are nearly even in this game and we have a close game. How about that?

When did Geno say Dawn didn’t shake his hand? Never saw it, just Staley speculating.

That’s exactly what he said. Look at his postgame comments, posted earlier on this thread.

Three of the first team AA played poorly tonight and their teams lost. Azzi was not as bad as Booker was shooting wise.

You’re conflating two gripes. Maybe the refs let the SC players be too agressive, maybe not. Either way, Geom should have congratulated Dawn and shook hands with the opposition.
Why? Because of some kind of insincere faux sense of "sportsmanship"? Why?
Until it is demonstrated that why he did what he did was clearly wrong and baseless, I stand with Geno. Sorry. If he had thrown the team under the bus, sure, but this? Sorry no.

OK Nostradamus. Waddya figure, executive order for Geno to be nicer? Supreme Court ruling against Auriemma for behaving badly? Blowhards have a field day when another person shows a chink in their armor. I’ll bet your Amigos have more concerns about you than your crystal ball proclivities. UConn had a rough one against a top opponent. Something is stuck in the Head Coaches craw. Bet we’ll never know the full story. Oh well. Guess folks will have a hole in their schedule where the NC game is. Life goes on.

Interesting bit of history:
When South Carolina lost its undefeated season to Iowa in the 2023 Final Four, Dawn Staley was severely critical of the officiating, claiming that they were unqualified.
One of the refs was Branda Pantoja, who officiated tonight's game.

Right on brother. Whole thing is above the BY pay grade. Geno owes nobody here nothing. This is a for better or for worse moment. He loves his family, loves his team, loves UConn.

Official trying to seem unbiased against SC by being in biased in their favor? Hm.

It seems like the referees let three of the four teams play physical, agressive defense.
South Carolina almost had as many foul shots as the other three teams combined.
UCONN- 6 foul shots
Texas- 5 foul shots
UCLA - 12 foul shots
SC- 22 fouls shots
And people will look at this and claim SC didn’t have any kind of advantage. UConn can play poorly AND the officiating can be bad. They’re not mutually exclusive.

All right. There we have it. Pissed off from the gitgo. That, the Refs and our bad awful day took him down a bad road. Behaved badly at the end of a bad day. Oh well.

Long time lurker -- first post here. Huge Gamecock fan. So much respect to the Huskies for setting and maintaining such a high standard over the years -- and kudos to the great fans here on the Boneyard. Your collective responses tonight validate the passion and class that have defined the program, and I particularly appreciate the willingness on the part of most to admit that Geno crossed a line -- even though that does not define him nor his career. I do believe that the rigors and physicality of the SEC as well as many more highly competitive games were incredibly important for Carolina tonight

GOAT coaches don’t act like Geno did with Dawn and walk out on their team when they needed his support!
False. Geno is unequivocally the greatest women’s college basketball coach of all time.
