As one born during World War II, from which many family and friends never returned, and then the same thing happening to my generation during Nam, I can tear up when I hear Vera Lynn's poignant and heartbreaking wartime ballad:

I just realized that the video above of Dame Vera Lynn singing her WW2 ballad "We'll Meet Again" is actually a video that was being projected on the white cliffs of Dover in 2020 as a memorial tribute on her death at 103. The music boomed across the English Channel. Of course, those cliffs were the subject of Lynn's other famous WW2 heart-tugger, "(There'll be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs of Dover", sung during the Battle of Britain.



Clan Cameron fought along with the Scottish Black Watch in WW2 . . . in kilts.
 
This is one from an unexpected place. Nemesea are a Dutch metal band who started out very goth, went totally techno, and have been a bit restless ever since. They had a spectacular lead singer, one whose voice was so good that I even liked the stuff that had music I didn't like. She left over ten years ago to teach full-time; and while I'm not crazy about her replacement, this song just makes my heart ache. Sad lyrics and sad music.

I love this song, Coach! It's exactly the opposite of sad. It's a very life-affirming song about a mature love.

@CL82- - Yes it's a beautiful song but to me it's a beautiful love that never found ME!
I'd sell the farm to be in a relationship with a woman like that!
I've been engaged 2x and never married, THEIR LOSS!

This is a bit controversial, but the post said "for whatever reason". I have been feeling very sad, and very angry, when I listen to the National Anthem being played at sporting events. I am very old, and it pains me to see what is happening to my country.
