Oh, 64Z, that reminds me of this one that I first heard on the Carson show when it came out. I was bawling by the time she finished singing.

They used this tune in the movie BRASSED OFF, about the shutting down of the coal mines, and the effects on working class people. This scene is about a female flugel horn player auditioning for an all male collierie brass band. She claims to be a "bit wobbly", but wows the men. Very emotional. Works if you click on the link. It’s a very touching piece, as Rodrigo wrote it in memory of his child who had died, a miscarriage. I first heard it played in Aranjuez over sixty years ago. Still makes me cry.

The Highwayman is a well-known poem written by Englishman Alfred Noyes a hundred or so years ago. It's been used in various contexts since then, including being made into songs. The best-known is probably that by Phil Ochs. He made it into an achingly beautiful love song. 30 or so years later, Loreena McKennitt wrote it as more of an adventure. The one by Phil gets me every time; I also love the one by Loreena, although I don't find it particularly sad. I'm including both.
