Songs About Time

.-.
This song was written in the sixties. Everything it says is going on today. The song is In the year 2525. Look it up and listen.

He said he came from down Texas way
The cowboys were tough
The women the same way
Said he was a star back in '31
Hollywood had liked him for some songs that he had done...

.-.

Naw, stick with Simon and Garfunkel, or at least the Bangles version. This one is kinda weak and far behind.

Here is the MUCH better cover by the Bangles:

Celia Pavey (Vera Blue) and Anna Weatherup sing a Thousand Years:

Partial lyrics:

Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave?
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall
But watching you stand alone?
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
Time stands still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything take away
What's standing in front of me
Every breath
Every hour has come to this
One step closer

Celia Pavey (now Vera Blue), an Aussie who has a wonderful voice.... I really love this song (title: Shadow), it's a little haunting too. I recommend it.

partial lyrics:

You say that you're a friend of mine
Can you tell me why I'm felling so lonely?
Take your silences aside

I'm the shadow on your wall
Of all the times you thought
That you still owned me
And all the while I watched us fall

And if you ever find the time to say this
I think I have the right to know
Wish that I could find the strength to say this to you

See that you are running blind
With angry eyes but always smiling
Is this you or are you lying

I also was thinking about THYME. Here's a live version from Central Park.

Ok, so I'm a BIG Celia Pavey fan. Impressive. Sounds mystical. Here is her cover of Scarborough Fair:

OK, I'm not quite done with Celia Pavey (Vera Blue). Here is her acoustic version of "Regular Touch".
No lyrics posted, but I promise "time" is in the lyrics several "times".

She has a pop version of this song as well.

One of the bands that wrote the first sentences of the definition of the 80s, and a lead singer who should be getting damned royalty checks from Lady Gaga for the rest of her life:
