Another Mary Black song about the loss of innocence and childhood in the UK coal fields.

Bone and blood is the price of coal

This was a suggestion after I searched Billy Joel Second Wind.
I think it qualifies. And with the historical clips, it's damn interesting to watch.

To a man born in Barnwell, South Carolina, who is arguably the most influential performer in all of modern of pop music.

Great song , smart lyrics, perfectly fit the times. :)
Thanks. So did the Dust Bowl, depression genius of Woody Guthrie though. Like a glove.

Still one of the prettiest instrumentals I've ever heard, I used to hear it on our school
bus in the early morning - our bus driver (RIP Roy) always had it tuned into WBZ and Carl DeSuze's show.

I'm glad to see this thread has caught on. Interesting that songs can go completely different directions: grand in scale trying to encompass all of humanity, or focusing on the minutiae of everyday life. Several more have popped into my head as I've scrolled thru the thread.
