I think they will split the awards. I think Jewell will win the AP POY.

If Jewell had won it would have been incentive for Stewie. Maybe, it's a plot to undermine UCONN. We're doooooooooooomed.

I'm sick and tired of all this anti not giving UConn players everything they've earned. Hey they've earned it. So reward them for earning it. Its not something that someone deserves its something someone Earned. Congrats Stewie. You my NPOY Wade Trophy Winner and 1st AA along with MoJeff the best point guard, Morgan Tuck the best post player and KML the best guard who has the records to prove it. Any Arguments?

I wonder if Muffet will have anything to say about it...
She won't say squat of an adverse nature until and unless she gets by SC.

And if ND and UConn do get to the final, I'm betting she stays proper and under control with the media. The trash talk etc. last year didn't work out so well for her on any front.

Great points! I was also thinking about the "awards" ceremonies where she famously refrained from applauding when Stewie went up to accept her award. Getting back to comments, though, I think Geno talked about it in one of the press conferences - maybe after the Dayton win? Saying he expected everyone to be congenial (or something like that)...

I don't necessarily disagree, but I don't completely agree either...

I think it's common knowledge that Stewie is the best college player in America. But the end of year awards aren't for the "best" player. They are "Player of the Year" awards - and usually go to those who not only are among the best players, but who also put up the best numbers. That's why I think sometimes it's harder for UCONN players to win stuff like that because when you have Dee, Sue, Swin and Tamika, or Maya, Tina and Renee, or Stewie, Moriah, Morgan and KML, it's not just one player who's putting up all the great stats.

In the next few years UCONN will be entering the Williams, Nurse, Samuelson, Collier and Dangerfield era. Again a bunch of great players on a team but individually no one may dominate the scoring. Having said that, any UCONN player who does win an award totally deserves it.

I think 99.9% of fans and 100% of the players would trade any individual awards for continued NC's...

Is the Wade Trophy considered more or less prestigious than the AP POY? Doesn't matter. I'm happier that Stewie won the Wade because when the AP named A'ja Wilson an All America and snubbed the more-deserving Morgan Tuck, the AP lost whatever credibility and integrity it had.

Personally, I consider the Wade the top award.

As for being 'sick and tired' - UConn players win plenty of accolades and awards. It's the Championships that prove their excellence. Just ask Ms. Beard.

Ya, I don't know what all the fuss is about - UCONN players do seem win the lion's share of the awards. Deservedly so too. But, regardless, I suspect it's everyone else that's "sick and tired."

Not too over-toot my own horn, but I've called Stewie was overdue for the Wade and that she and Jewel will probably share the five NPOY awards for this season. I, for one, am thrilled for Breanna.

Now if she can just win the Wooden this season or next, she'll have collected all five NPOY awards in one season or another.

Colin Cowherd in his "You Herd Me" book, wrote about the topic of award voting.

The AP awards are voted by the AP sportswriters. Colin says everyone in the media has favorites and are biased, and they're biased without inside access. Inside access is a key to judging talent. He said Archie Manning or Troy Aikman would have a better sense of greatness than a columnist who was recently promoted from beat reporter. He mentions the Heisman and how regionally biased the voting is. E.g. Manziel won five of six regions. He lost in the midwest where voting went for Te'o.
