Beat Michigan, UNLV, Rutgers, etc. Win games OOC.

Every bubble team has issues, hence they're on the bubble. The selection committee, which has done the worst in bracket balancing in the history of the sport, left every bubble team from the second best conference out. Meanwhile selected every bubble team from the Mountain West and the best football conferences

Historically bad, not something to be proud of

And they determined brackets based on "mileage" LMFAO

True. Those four games add no value to anyone. Might as well play D3 schools. I don't see it improving anytime soon. Any conference needs its members to at least be competitive.
Drop DC and Chicago TV markets.

You guys didn’t go to business school.

I’m not arguing the BE got screwed that’s obvious but I don’t think it was a power conference or cbs affiliate scheme because the MW is a mid major on fox and they got 6 bids
Mountain West media contract is a CBS/Fox mix.

MWC splits their games between CBS and Fox, their conf title game was on CBS Saturday

When you’re a fan of a certain team in a certain conference and are emotionally outraged at perceived, subjective injustices for said conference…. a biased alert should be ringing in your brain. Introspection is a wonderful thing.

so we're dropping the midmajor aspect of the conspiracy theory but sticking with the cbs aspect? dont we have games on cbssports too?

guess we should try to split our next deal more evenly between fox and cbs. isnt cbs losing sec games? theyll need the extra inventory.

That should give someone more credibility, not less.

All the narrow-minded simpletons that graduated B-school and went to work for McKinsey have ruined every business they touched. It is the business school choads who are leading college sports down this self-destructive path.

brands>>markets

Both are important, but Georgetown and DePaul could both be replaced by better brands in their markets.

I agree that Georgetown and DePaul should be kicked to the curb, but disagree that urban markets matter anymore.

To many early out of conference losses for the BE bubble teams. Then none of them separated themselves from each other in conference play. On top of that favorites not winning conference tournaments.

DePaul is easy to replace

Loyola Chicago. Dayton, VCU, Gonzaga & St Mary's

None of those programs may be UConn, they're all better than DePaul

Georgetown ain't going anywhere, nor should they

Bingo. I don't think UVA or MSU belong in the tournament, but spare me the tears for Providence, Seton Hall and St. Johns. They beat no one OOC and got burned for it. Oh, and they got 4 of their conference wins (5 in Prov's case) against G'Town (202) and DePaul (307). Their nonconference resumes are pitiful. The Big East is a major conference. It should act and schedule accordingly.

St. Johns – zero wins OOC against teams in the field. Best OOC win – Utah (50 on Kenpom)

Providence – one OOC win against teams in field: Wisconsin (17) (before Hopkins injury).

Seton Hall – zero wins OOC wins against teams in field. Best OOC win – Missouri (150).

UVA, two OOC wins against tourney teams, more than the Big East snubs combined: Florida (29) and Texas A&M (44).

Mich. State - one OOC win against team in the field: Baylor (14). They also beat Indiana St. (45).

Branding is a business concept. Pot calling the kettle black.

One step would be to get rid of the two "doormat" teams in the league. ( You know which ones).
Freeing up four games would allow the stronger teams to schedule against P5 teams to build up the resumes.
Not even worth discussing.
The Chicago and DC market is not what you throw out the window.
The league has to work with DePaul to make it stronger.
Beyond what the Cooley haters say, he will make Gtown respectable again.
Rather than throw out - work to make them better.
It would be best for UConn to get out of the NBE - asap - the program/school deserves deeper waters.

You really think the Chicago market is excited about Depaul when they get about a thousand a game in attendance?
The topic is how the Big East only got 3 bids. You know why? Because wins against Depaul and Georgetown got ZERO credit. Those teams dilute the entire strength of the league and should be replaced.

We played on national over the air CBS way back in — February. Real CBS may have done one or two more MWC games than Big East games, but no more than that. Some of this conspiracy crap is really dumb.

Here’s my theory — you have a bunch of people doing close to the best they can, but there are not Investment Bankers, rocket scientists and business lawyers. And, even if they were, at the pretty large margins of the cut line, there will always be rational arguments why they got some of the field wrong.

Also heard the flights to Dayton from NY area were over the NCAA alloted budget....one of the main factors in leaving out Hall & Johnnies.

this was the funniest thing i heard all day. if only the conferences themselves cared about mileage then maybe UCLA and USC wouldnt be about to joint the BIG20.

There may be better programs at this moment, but not better brands.
You would be right. If it was 1994. They are today’s basketball version of the HUMMER. Big at one time but virtually extinct today.
