If he truly just wants URI to meet his demands, i dont see how he leaves there. Only way is if his demands arent reasonable. If you point a gun to my head and demand a million dollars, i still cant get it for you. If you point a gun to my head and ask for everything in my checking account, I most certainly can pull that off. If he is asking for what they cant do, then his request is bs to begin with. If he is asking for something they can give, i dont see how in the world they dont. So if he is being reasonable based on what they can afford, and he means what he is saying, there is no way he is leaving URI.
I don't think he wants that much more money from URI. It seems as though he rather have the money invested into the program and URI may already be at its limit. I'm sure the president and AD are working on a hail mary right now to keep Hurley, but I don't think it will be enough.

Well if he wants a practice facility, he's talking about possibly tens of millions over a few years.

If he stays, I think he has under estimated what it will take to consistently be a top contender at URI in my opinion.

The URI AD can promise Hurley a $30 Mil practice facility, but he won't have the money/timeline/plans to back it up. Is a promise and a handshake enough? I would hope not.

I'd think it's a good sign re Hurley that we haven't heard any other rumors about UConn. None. Not even the guys that interviewed with others. Not even the random rumors that seem to be placed by agents hoping to make their clients look wanted. Hopefully that means that this is a done deal and Hurley is trying to go out the right way. If not... oh boy, things could get ugly.

Yeah, and a plan for that should have already been in place well before UConn came calling for Hurley, but I don't know if there is one. It seems like it's been on Hurley's wishlist for a while now judging by this tweet from 2015:

I'd be surprised if URI doesn't regress back to the mean this upcoming season, with their senior class leaving. If Hurley stays and they have a mediocre year, he loses a lot of that momentum he's currently riding on. I just can't see him sticking with the Rhody program, there's very little upward mobility.

I can't believe we are in a coaching battle with URI and Pitt. KO should be banned from campus.
Hypothetical question: Lets say if Kevin Ollie was poached for an NBA job in 2015, how different would the pool of coaching candidates look compared to Danny Hurley? Do you think that the dropoff between a candidate the quality of Hurley and whoever the likely replacement would have been before the last couple years is really that dramatic?

And to add to that, if URI had made any headway on these wishes, would Hurley have made these comments after the Duke game?

"But there's a whole lot more room for this program to grow around these players, and that's absolutely essential if the University, and if the athletic department, our fans, want us to be able to get beyond this point as a program. You know, the investment's going to have to increase. But that's like that with any program that's trying to get better. You know, you have to rely on your expectations with your investment, and these players, you know, deserve to operate at the highest level of our league, if you want to stay there."

Based on this article from May 2017, it seems like URI was still lacking when it comes to investing in the program:
