Crickets.
As someone who has started a lot of these threads where our guys have been named to these award lists, I can tell you that they always get very little comments. People seem to save their comments for negative things. E.g. if one of our players was snubbed on one of these award lists the thread would be 10 pages long.

Solo is my favorite guy on the team but I don't understand him being one of the top 5 shooting guards in college basketball.

This is uncomfortably similar to the, 'I love Alex, but too often I don't know why he's on the court' post in another thread.

If you have something like this for each guy on the team, just a friendly reminder that you're under no obligation to be brutally frank about the full roster.

I'll add that I like your new avatar a lot.

I love all the players on the team but Solo is my favorite. I've had other posters question why I like Solo as a player and why I don't call him out for his poor play. The reality is he's just under 31% from three this season and his defense isn't good. I don't know all the other shooting guards in the country but he has not been one of the 5 best shooting guards in the country this year. It's not fair to have him there over more deserving players.

Just off the top of my head Richie Saunders and Ryan Conwell were much better than Solo this season. Saunders played 5 less games due to a season ending injury but that shouldn't take him out of the running, IMO. Then there's Labaron Philon who has been one of the best players in the country and he's not on the shooting guard list or the Bob Cousy list. His starting backcourt teammate Aiden Holloway has also been better than Solo and he isn't on the list. Meleek Thomas has also been a lot better and he's not on the list.

These awards are always ridiculously biased towards the big conferences. There are some guys on mid-level teams having insane seasons, but they don't even get nominated while guys having just pretty good seasons in the SEC, Big 12, Big Ten, and Big East are finalists

I really like and root for Solo, but he's shooting 40.5% overall and 30.7 from 3. Percentage wise from 3, compared to his teammates that take at least one 3 most games, he's 7th on the team. If you add Reibe to the mix he's 8th.

I wish he had built on what he did last year. He is better taking it to the paint, has had some good games and made some big time winning time shots, but he's really struggled this year.

I'm happy he made the list. It's great for his resume. But I'm very surprised.

I hope he proves during the BET and NCAAs that he belongs on that list. He and the team would benefit from that.

I think you meant 30.7% from 3. We should be realistic here, he's got good back end numbers because of volume. Oddly there is a bit of a shortage of solid 2G's in CBB this year. Lot's of other stuff. Loaded at PG.

And share real world data. He is shooting 30.7% from three for the season. If he was hitting at the same 41.4% from last year this thread would read differently. Thats a huge drop, but it may be due to injuries.

Everyone is aware. Doesn't mean we can't celebrate him getting national recognition. But many on this board don't enjoy that.

Yes, typo. I updated it to 30.7%. Thanks.

I admit, I’m a Solo fan. He seems like a great kid, hard worker and bleeds UConn blue.

I think everyone would be happy if he was shooting 40% from 3. So, if he hit 20 more throughout the year, he’d be over 40%. Since we’ve played 31 games, the difference between 30% and 40% is 2 points per game. Hardly seems worth the flack he gets for his 3 point efficiency.
