I haven't noticed this posted anywhere but it's a good insight into who we just signed up for six years: What is UConn getting in new coach Dan Hurley?
Coaches tend to be one or the other. Everyone knows. Well, not everyone. These are mutually exclusive? Who knew.
Not the ones I have been associated with.Coaches tend to be one or the other. Everyone knows. Well, not everyone.

"I'm like a fixer, man," Hurley said. "I love broken $***. I love fixing stuff. I enjoy improving things. … I'd rather take a job like Rhode Island than take a turn-key job. For me, I find it more rewarding, a more exciting challenge to create something from nothing."
Thanks. There are certainly worse things than having a foul mouthed, tough, Irish, SOB on the UConn sideline.
Remember when just about everyone on this board criticized Manuel for not stepping up and signing Ollie right away after we beat Michigan State in Europe? I 'm not a fan of revisionist history.
I didn't have a problem with the initial signing, but I don't believe it was the norm to fully guarantee a five year contract like Manuel negotiated and Benedict signed shortly after his arrival. Maybe it is but there haven't been enough high profile firings to get a sense of what these contracts are like today.
Yes, I saw that when it was posted yesterday and meant to post about it then, but it got lost somewhere when I was sucked into the vortex of the Some Guy thread. Good to see.@8893 notice the top button?
I mean I was pretty big in my college years. Eating a Hangar 1 from Wings Over and drinking 20 beers every Friday/Saturday night will do that to you.Someone clue me in: who is the big bearded dude above? I honestly thought it was a selfie when @huskyniner posted it yesterday.
His animation on the side lines reminds me of Mitch Buonagaro when he coached at Fairfield U. I once saw him get a technical for celebrating a little too much on the sidelines for the refs. So they T'd him up and the technical lost the game for them. It's probably on YouTube somewhere.https://nypost.com/2018/01/27/danny-hurleys-a-monster-and-rhode-island-is-the-beneficiary/
He is somebody that Uconn Nation should be thrilled to have

Didn't Chaney challenge Calipari to a fist fight? Or if I remember correctly, threatened to kill Calipari.I liked John Cheney, because you could tell how far along the game was and how Temple was doing based on his various phases of undress on the sideline. During those epic battles with UMass, I could have sworn he'd end up in his skivvies, sleeveless undershirt (Dare I not say the colloquialism), and black socks.
Great read!https://nypost.com/2018/01/27/danny-hurleys-a-monster-and-rhode-island-is-the-beneficiary/
