People who think Amari should get more playing time as a wing are missing the point. You want her in the game taking outside shots instead of Bueckers, Arnold, Shade, Samuels, Griffin, or even Muhl? Amari's feet are so slow and she's such a liability on defense that it would be a waste. She's just not quick enough and has slow feet. Sure she's a competent spot up shooter, but not at the expense of much better players at that position.
Giving her more reps in games is a silly suggestion and won't get her to where she needs to be - which is a physical player in the post. If she can't/won't embrace that, then she will continue to contribute from the bench. As you all probably know, I love the kid - her chemistry and "team-mated-ness" is off the charts. She's just not a viable post player, and possibly never will be.
And I'm not even sure she would be successful elsewhere. Remember Piath? She went to UMASS, and even in her last year there, barely got off the bench. Now she's at Portland, and it seems she has not played this year. Maybe she has to sit out as this is her 2nd transfer? Point is, she was a 6'5" center, quicker and more athletic than Amari, who didn't mind banging in the post, and still can't seem to find her way into a lineup.
Remember Heather Buck? I think she was #19 or so coming out of HS. Had one tremendous game against Baylor slowing down Griner, and other than that, had very little impact. For 4 years, we had the same conversations as we are having now about Amari. No one could figure out why Heather wasn't more productive.
From an article in the Post back in 2013 coming up to Heather's senior night, she said: "The overall experience here absolutely outweighs anything I think I could have had somewhere else,'' Buck said. "This is the way it went. And I'm very happy with my decision. We won two national championships so far while I've been here and played on arguably the best team or couple teams in the history of women's basketball. Who else can say that? That's really cool.''
Maybe that's close to how Amari feels (sans the NC's)...
