I don't hate him. It does seem to me like he didn't like us. And I thought this before Dan was our coach. I mean both Hurley and Calhoun were two tough Irish SOBs. But the connection never got made.

Frankly I'd probably have told my son the same thing... the Lakers coaching job is the best job in all of basketball. I get it.

Fortunately for us it didn’t sway him but if we think about it Danny has quite a nice thing going here. Very well compensated, biggest sports guy in the state, great coaching team drawing the best talent AND a chance to be immortal in coaching. (no he’s not there yet). He’s not exactly suffering.
Oh I forgot. Arguably the best and most committed fanbase in the country

I imagine it more coming from a place of “what if?” regarding his own coaching career, and now he’s living vicariously through his son.

no, I don't think that's what happened but there's an endless number of possibilities.

no, I don't think that's what happened but there's an endless number of possibilities.

My take is that he wants his son to get the most out of his career and maybe he (Sr) has a little regret that he did not chase some of his dreams to stay at St Anthony. He had the opportunities to provide a better life for his family but as we know he was/is stubborn as heck and decided to stay when those opportunities were knocking on his front door.

In the end Danny is making more money in a year than Sr probably made in his whole life coaching St Anthony so it is a bit different situation.
