Per Goodman: SMU has been hit with a postseason ban for this season & Larry Brown suspended for 10 percent of this season’s games, source told ESPN.

I can't believe the NCAA would do that to this kids or actually I can and still stunned...if this is true.

They don't appear to have any 2016 commits yet. Guess we can say goodbye to them bringing the AAC some respect for a while.

Didnt Syracuse start landing recruits after being banned? Maybe they'll follow that trend? Glass half full?

Really awful timing for this. Precedent says seniors can transfer if facing a ban without sitting out but practice starts this week. The NCAA strikes again.

UNC is basically in the same situation. They only have 2 four star recruits. In years past those two recruits would have been 5 star guys!.....So it's tough times for everyone

Ah, so if they appeal, it'll delay the process long enough that they'll get to play this year even if it's eventually upheld.

Really!? You can appeal if you are supposed to be good. That's kinda funny.

I think it's poorly worded. The fact that they're good makes an appeal interesting. Not that it's contingent on it. If they sucked and weren't going to make the tourney anyway, who cares.

UNC?

Also a very clever way for the NCAA to address OUR conference griping on not having the qualified schools in March Madness.

Tougher for SMU interim coaches than Syracuse. I mean Hopkins will just say "alright get into the 2-3 zone and when you go down the other end shoot if you're open"

They got the same exact punishment that Syracuse did. only Syracuse was doling out $$ and not only messing with eligibility. AND, Syracuse's postseason penalty was a joke.

If it's true that SMU is being hammered for illegally making one player eligible, versus the decade+ of many many many underhanded acts at Syracuse, AND SMU receives a harsher punishment (in terms of postseason play) then this is a perfect example of NCAA favoritism and imbalance.

The only factor otherwise is that Larry Brown is a 3-time offender--so schools should watch out hiring these types.

Wonder how much LB's past transgressions at UCLA and Kansas factored into this.
