[Ray Allen] will be joined by his former teammates from the University of Connecticut's Uconn Huskies, Donyell Marshall, Kevin Ollie, Rudy Johnson and Nantambu Willingham, all of whom are currently basketball coaches.

They will coach 13 and 14-year-old players on Maccabi's youth teams, together with Nadav Henefeld, former player of Maccabi and Uconn, in the coastal city of Tel Aviv.

It would be great if this somehow opened up the pipeline again for more Israeli talent to make its way to Storrs. It was a mainstay in the Calhoun days. Ollie being one of the coaches certainly adds another layer…
You never know.

Omri Casspi played in the NBA for a while, and Deni Avijda currently plays in the NBA.

Being coached by former UConn players and a former UConn coach might well motivate talented players to consider UConn if the interest was mutual.

Maybe some of the young players have relatives in the United States which could be a draw.

Eh - that was 30 years ago. It’s not coming back.

Fun fact - we likely do not get any of the Israeli players if St. John’s was not a toilet of a campus. Henefeld was going to St. John’s before he visited and found that he’d have to live off campus in Queens.

Does anyone know if Donyell is sick by any chance? In recent pics of him his face and eyes look very swollen. Hope I’m not overstepping here.

Of course... But that was over 30 years ago and we were 2 for 4. Nadav and Sheffer were legends. Gilad Katz and Uri Cohen Mintz were awful.
