Singare…

I understand kids want to play, but wonder if they have good advisors, not just agents.

Option 1: Stay at Uconn. He played a bit during emergencies..and quite honestly, thought he did quite well for what I expected. Another year of dev, play behind Reed. He's def stronger than Reibe. If we have a decent 3rd C, does that allow Reibe to play some at the 4? so 25 Reid, 8 Reibe, 7 Singare
Does this option depend on Karaban leaving?

Option 2: Go to another P5 as a starter? Not likely as he would have already gotten an offer and been gone. Does he want to go to be a backup on a bad P5 team?

Option 3: Drop down a level....prob would get PT...how much NIL compared to what he gets at Uconn? Long term benefits?

Which option is best for his long term career path. I'm biased, but I would think 2 more years under Hurley allows him to be the best possible version of himself, and maximizes whatever long term Bball career he might have, in Europe or elsewhere.
The bolded is pretty much where it ends, most guys want to play basketball and not sit on the bench, it is not bad advice to seek out an opportunity that gets you on the floor. 2 years in and much older than a typical junior to be, it's time to get some run now after putting in 2 years of practice time.

If it ain't us this is a great place to go. He'll still be visible. But who in the heck is Flynn Clayman? No offense to Flynn Clayman. I'm sure he's nice

I've heard that Seton Hall had some interest but that Singare's representation had an unrealistic expectation of NIL.

This isn’t true. The average 2 foul participation in 2024-25 was 23.2%. UConn was 6.2% (342nd in the country).

There’s a stat for everything!

Yes, I have a KenPom subscription, too.
Still, no examples provided.

I once heard it described as the back-up catcher phenomenon. Fans are so sure that a guy who doesn’t get much run would excel if only the dummies in charge weren’t so dumb.

Doubtful Singare will end up at High Point after just learning about this:

High Point's other two backup bigs are returning too.

Yeah but they're called high point. It's a team of all bigs 1-5. Like my team of all fat polish slap shooters on Nintendo pro hockey.

Flynn Clayman is a well-regarded recurring minor character in a half dozen streaming series spread across 4 different major platforms. Previously, he was sequentially featured in several categories of genre fiction that included print & graphic novels.

He begins his career as a fully-appointed NCAA D1 men's basketball coach in the 2025-26 season. He is a protege of High Point University president Nido Qubein, and yes, he is nice. Very nice.

No word yet as to how his High Point appointment will impact his acting career.

Those 2 bolded parts of option 1 are my take here. He was certainly not a detriment when he played. I would have liked him to stay and to see Reibe at the 4 more often.

He can't. That's why I want a 6'8-9" big bodied PF that can spell the 4 or 5. Easier to sell them on the idea that there are some minutes.
We had them. And I agree with you but I think the guy that should spell the 4 and 5 is Reibe and then we bring in another 5.

No way!!! I didn't realize he was THE Flynn Clayman!

That might be viable. I think we need somebody with some bulk, We may get pushed around a bit aside from Reed.

Hilton Armstrong played as a sophomore on a team that had Josh Boone, Charlie V, and Emeka.

Tyler Olander played as a freshman.

We stuck Karaban at center rather than go with Singare.
Apples and oranges. Emeka and Boone both started - two bigs was a more common thing in those days. Boone and CV split minutes at the four and Hilton backed up Emeka. Marcus White was the odd big out on that team.

Olander was really our only 4 that year. We were small. Oriakhi and Okwandu were 5s that sometimes played together. Or we put Roscoe at the 4 and went small.

Exactly. Not to mention Calhoun yanking people out of the game for poor play. It’s not even up for debate . Are we going to sit here, in 2025, and act like Calhoun wouldn’t have sat Tarris or Samson down, with some select language??? He would’ve did it with Samson and Clingan sometimes. Singare would’ve played for Calhoun. Lol. He would’ve put Singare in at that Maui foul fest, turned his back to the game, and tore into Samson and Reed for 5 minutes.

There's a reason nobody coaches like that anymore.

Unrealistic, or unrealistic for cash strapped SHU?

In 2024 UConn was at 11% while the average was 22%. Which means, if a guy picks up his 2nd foul with 10 minutes left in the first half, on average, he'd play 2 of the remaining 10 minutes, while at UConn they'd only play 1 minute. So, yeah, the vast majority of coaches sit guys with 2 fouls.

Maybe they're planning on running their "quadruple big" scheme?
