Do we think that the commitment of Chiozza to Florida will impact whether or not Black will come to UConn?

No, he's made it clear that won't make a huge impact on his decision.

Florida is always huge competition for UConn it seems. Are the programs so similar? I seem to remember battling with them over Rashad and James White at one point.

I love oubre and black, but are we no longer going after Hill and Gant? They seem like an ideal duo to add to Hamilton. That would be 3 really long, athletic freaks on our team. Hill seemed like the top target forever but now that Hamilton signed it seems we are focusing more on oubre. Never hear anything on Gant either. He is Rudy 2.0.

Whoever wants to commit right now can commit right now!

I'm sure we're still recruiting them all. There wasn't much info about us recruiting Oubre until a few weeks ago - and then it comes out that we've been recruiting him harder than any other school in the country.

I don't know why you get the idea that Ollie is doing that. Oubre plays a lot of guard, much more than Daniels did in HS. I mean, I guess I see where you can get the idea, but I have to respectfully disagree. I think Ollie is recruiting to play 2 or 3, but ultimately I think Ollie is recruiting guys who can just play ball at multiple positions. And Black is an Adrien PF type, the dude is stacked for a HS kid

As for true PG, yes and no. As I have been stating we can use one but don't NEED one. We have (not including Boatright who may stay) two guys in Purvis and Samuel who can run the point and both likely will. Oubre and Hamilton can handle the roc as well as anyone in the country also. Now another true PG would be nice. But remember during the 2014-15 season our guys will be young so coaches can always recruit a new PG that year as they observe the "make-up" and chemistry of that future squad. Again, Boatright might be a part of it too. I just don't see a huge "rush" for a true PG like others are seeing. I think we will get one. I am more worries about landing another scorer like Oubre. And after that a quality big man or two, like Black, Chukwu, or Abu for example. Could use some more scoring inside.

I would just like to see the staff maybe identify a slightly underrated true PG. Obviously the staff has a year to evaluated Purvis and Samuels to see if there ready. While Samuels is a true PG I'm not sure he will be ready for big minutes until later in his career.

As for Oubre have u ever seen him play or is this based off highlights? I saw him play the Harrison twins and his handle was ok, better then DeAndre's but not like Hamilton's. Not to get ahead of ourselves but if u look at 2014 2015 you will see a whole at the four.

1.Purvis
2.Calhoun
3.Hamilton
4.
5.Facey/Nolan

I just think Ollie loved what he had in Daniels as a mismatch 4 so he is looking for another guy to fill that role. Obviously Oubre would still play a lot of 3 as well.

Facey as a 5 is a bit of a stretch. I'd much rather add a true 5.

I suspect they are trying to fill the void at 4 with Black or Abu. And add Oubre as a 2/3 option. I think even then we still have room at PG. Especially if ppl leave. But no haven't seen him in person. Thank you for your input, I am sure you know what your saying then, if you have seen him in person. I know vids can be a little deceiving. But his handle does look very nice in them.

Don't forget Brima will be entering his soph year. Somehow, I don't think he is as raw as most people feel. I believe he'll help some his frosh season. In year 2 he should be a major contributor.
Still, I want Pascal Chuckdu, also.

I've never really understood the worry about position either. It's one thing if you have a super quick guy with a great handle but who is short with no outside shot. Of course he's going to have to be a PG only. Or a guy who's 7'2" but can't make a shout outside of a layup, then you have a pure center. But why not have really versatile guys who can play several positions? it's not like we have to recruit a 1,2,3,4 and 5.

Agreed eric but they all need to be able to guard 3 positions in order for this to work. It looks like Oubre and Hamilton could so that would work, both very athletic and quick for their size. Or if we have a backstop like Thabeet? Then you need brimah to be special or Chukwu to come and hold down the fort.......so many things in putting the final touches in this class it will be interesting

Many positions are interchangable but the one position that isn't is PG. Combo guards tend not to be successful playing PG in the college game and if they have to do it for most of the game the team gets exposed to the press. Uconn has always had a real PG and sometimes 2 (Ollie/Sheffer, Boatright/Bazz).
Still think taking all 3 would be great.

It's a definite concern, though if you have multiple positions who can handle the ball, the press concern gets negated to some extent. You just have to be really sure that a guy like Hamilton can handle the ball well enough to break the press. Ideally I'd like to add that true PG, but if Ollie believes he can go a different route and get a championship caliber team, I'mm behind it 100%.

I think you can always pick up a PG. Not a Mc D AA PG but you can always find a good floor general if it is needed. KO will be an attractive coach for those type players and his style is the style they want to play.

If KO picks up a couple more high caliber kids we will be loaded- but 2014 will still be a transitional year to some degree (unless he does pick up 3 more top 30 kids) after all we do not have the Uk model. Adjustments can be made and one of the new kids is likely to have a break out season and leave by his early- opening up a spot for another PG.

Someone has to play PG in the NBA. We've had AJ Price and Marcus Williams here, so another 6'2" or 6'3" kid can certainly do it. Can Purvis be another Wall or Knight? They had some height.

True. AJ and Marcus were HS PGs and they never had to adjust to another position.
