Seton HeII Post Game Thread

That was a freshman mistake out of a junior. Complete brain fart. We had more than our fair share of those brain-dead moments from everyone. Solo fouling a 3-point shooter is another example.

We almost made out well, given the dude is a 25% FT shooter. And then he hits two, lol.
And got a shooter’s bounce on the first one that would have made Steph Curry blush lol

You're beginning to copy another poster's MO.
Who? Your post was illegible.

I said this is a bad sign because that performance is on Hurley and AK as a captain is putting it all on himself and his teammates and giving his coaches a free pass. I don't like hearing AK who has put way too much pressure on himself all season saying what he said.

#7 did not tackle Solo. Solo ran into #7 and then fell.

I'm sorry, but that's not a cut and dried foul. It looked like Ball lost control (which he did).
It looks like Solo fumbles forward into the defender - which to me is NOT a foul on that defender. But if you look more closely the other defender does have his hands on Solos back, to what extend he pushed is hard to determine. It should be a foul for just having both hands on him.

Lol, we don’t want to develop players here? Man wtf are you talking about.
We may want to develop players but to be honest, we didn’t develop anyone last year ( unless you consider Ball who is definitely improved but still has a lot of holes in his game) and no one else either last year or this year.
I for one don’t have any confidence in Stewart or Ross for next season and we have no idea what Nowell or Abraham can bring to the table.

You’re right, other than practice Nowell and Abraham are starting from scratch next season. Since we can’t rely on Mahaney all we have is Reed as a senior?

I refuse to acknowledge that this game occurred. I have expunged it from existence. Best if we all do the same.
Actually with all due respect, this game should not be forgotten, not this season.

St. John’s loss I was fine with.

Others were okay, stung but we move on.

But this one has a stank - a reminder that were not as good as we think we are and must fight to win games.

A reminder players can’t take plays off.

A reminder that we can’t count on officiating to bail us out.

A reminder that the 3 peat was an illusion and we need simply be the best version of this team as posssibe.

Stop it. 13.5 point favorites, shouldn’t even be in this position. Keep blaming the refs.
Not the refs, Not the refs, Not the refs. Stop the "It's not my fault" mantra.

You’re right we didn’t develop anyone last year seriously. The only thing we tried to get Ball and Stewart to do were shoot 3s and play defense. Didn’t look to develop any other skills and then become surprised that’s all that they can look to do consistently this year.

Guys aren’t going to get better unless coaches challenge them to do more to improve and live with the mistakes as they do so.

The back defender did have his hands on him.

Solo could have just stood there and it would have been a better outcome.
He got tackled…. It was a horrendous no-call but again, should never have been remotely in that position so I can’t get too worked up about it.

Agreed. I acknowledged that a half hour ago. (o;

When Ball missed his second free-throw with 18 seconds to go, why did we let Wusu score on a simple layup taking only six seconds off the clock? Literally unimpeded.

I understand don’t do stupid fouls, but that doesn’t mean don’t play any defense whatsoever.

A layup is way easier than two free throws, especially with a guy who shoots 65% from the line.
No kidding. Do we have anybody who understands probability? Duh.

Liam singlehandedly won the last game. Instead of all the limelight being on Liam coach decided to get into it with the few remaining Creighton fans.

I don't mind being cocky but he's taking it to horses arse levels and he doesn't have the team to back it up. He had a confident swagger last season because he had a bunch of NBA players and uniquely savvy kids who could blow everyone out. Now his mouth is writing checks...

Have a damn inbounds play, have a damn play to throw it into your big for a bucket when the other team doesn't have any bigs. Play your most talented big.

I love the guy but he needs to be humbled. We're seeing someone who is too arrogant and too stubborn right now.
Yrs we are….,and it is being tossed into his face in a BIG TIME way

We lost 4 starters and moved the guy who was 5th in our depth chart to first. We relied on two career bench guys to man our pg and center position. The pg can’t shoot and the center can’t rebound. We were overly reliant on a freshman and a bunch of sophomores who didn’t play the year before. All while having the target of b2b national champs on our back. The writing was always on the wall. This was a rebuild year. It’s clear now.

Hurley gets a pass this season. He’s more than earned that. But we need to construct a better more cohesive roster next season.

Just not that good/consistent this year ...horrible loss...hurley knows and dies internally by this ....goes back to the rarest of rare back to back natties which is forgotten quickly, losing 4 fckn studs, overrated to start the year and don't forget how bad ollie years got and how great hurley brought this back is forgotten quickly... I said bubble team and it is what we are... may not even make it but you never know....get in the top 5 byes in the BE tourney which means we need at least 4/6 wins in remaining games and we'll see....BE not great this year overall so you never know....i think when kids are getting paid they lay down at times...i know most adults do at their jobs and thats part of the problem....go huskies!!!

And it sets us up for an interesting offseason. Hurley has deemed several players unplayable for this whole season and we have one kid who he misjudged as a player and it's all too much for him.
I hope Nowell and Abraham bolt. They have every right to

What did AntG say that you disagree with? I mean, he laid it all out pretty accurately.

Meh.

The sophomores aren’t very good - like, really, not very good. We have one spot up shooter in the bunch and none of them can do anything else.

If they’re keeping these freshmen on the bench, we need to question why we’re recruiting a half dozen players who can’t play.
You mean maybe we don’t have the best effen coach in the country??? Im sure that is news to him.

In that time how could you possibly have missed the Perno years?
Perno is a GENIUS compared to what I saw today. Forget the fact that we out talented them at EVERY position. 5 times we couldn’t inbounds the ball. FIVE!!!

When just once would have won the game. I’ve seen 8th grade CYO teams execute better.

What have we put, 7 players into the NBA over the past two years? Need to give Hurley a chance to reload. And he's doing that next year with 3 McDonald's All-Americans plus a supposed stud from overseas. This team is young and not super talented. Not untalented, but not super talented. And unfortunately, AK is having a tough year. To be competitive with the top teams, this roster would need him to be playing like a first team All-American. That's just not been the case this year. Hurley is not the greatest X's & O's coach out there but he's obviously proven he has what it takes to get the job done at the highest level better than just about anybody out there. I suspect he will turn this around and we'll see a much more competitive product next year.
This isn’t about reloading. This is about losing to the worst team in the league. With a 7 point lead with 36 seconds to play. And just needing to get the ball in bounds. 5 times failing to do that effectively. The lack of talent is understandable. Losing to a glorified mid major, though, is not. So stop your foolish excuses.

That's an awful sign. As if AK hasn't already put way too much pressure on himself this entire season. Anybody have the post game presser? Hurley needs to take this off the players and put it squarely on himself.
He will NEVER do that. He’s never taken accountability for any loss, just all the credit for our success. I REALLY wish he took the Lakers job. He’s a punk and an embarrassment to the university with his childish antics.

It’s pretty damn easy to coach a bunch of future NBA players. This year was a year where we REALLY needed some serious coaching and he has failed MISERABLY.

What do you think JC would have said after a game like that today????

Pretending that the two calls at the end weren’t a major factor in the outcome is silly. It doesn’t change the fact that we played terribly.
You REALLY need to stop. We did NOT lose this game cuz of the refs. PERIOD. FULL STOP

This was crushing, and I’m disgusted, but I haven’t given up yet.

We beat nova and St. John’s and we’re back in the game. I’m not sure how the hell we do that after losing to Seton freaking hall but we have to.

Maybe I’m gullible or just a true believer.

We shall never give in!
