Seton HeII Post Game Thread

Diarra Sucks? He was 6th man of the year for a reason last year. He is playing on one leg now. Now Mahaney I will give you as he has no business playing high major basketblall.

The comment I was responding to is about PGs recruited out of HS, you dinglehopper. Hurley's track record with high school PGs is not good.

Diggins
Gaffney
Nowell

Throw in B. Adams, Floyd and Castle in there, but I wouldn't really consider them PGs in the traditional sense.

Our track record on PGs is way worse than it is with bigs and wings under Hurley. And especially with x'fers. We've done really well in the portal.

And they would have if the officials did their job properly. Do you think Dan Hurley should have practice sessions on how to handle poorly officiated games, on top of how not to sleep walk?
STOP!

Is Mullins more of a 2 or a wing? I guess he can play both. Either way I want another atletic wing besides that PG we need to bring in from the portal. We need to get more athletic and defensive on the wing positions.

I think he will be a starter. He's talented as all hell.

That's why I think we need to recruit a BIG PG in the portal. Someone who can guard the 3 while Solo and Mullins guard opposings 1s and 2s.

On offense, a front line with a 6'5 Mullins, 6'3 Solo and some x'fer guard at 6'5 or so would be plenty of size to be competitive. What we can't have is Mullins at 6'5 190lbs trying to battle opposing 3s all season. That's a recipe for disaster.

Thankfully I went to 4:30 Mass because of the storm tomorrow so I missed the last 15 minutes. I want to puke

The Miami loss is still clear in my head and I never thought I'd see something that bad from UConn. This was 10x worse. Up by 4 at 76-72 with 8 seconds left and Miami gets a layup. 76-74 with 4 seconds left and Shamon Tooles hurries a quick inbounds pass. Darius Rice intercepts and knocks down a 3 at the buzzer. Game over 77-76. Today we took our time to inbounds and had to use timeouts. Either way, failure. Inexcusable.

Neither team deserved the win today. There is a reason teams rarely win when down by 5-7 points in the closing seconds. They have to foul. SHU fouled but no calls were made. That allowed SHU to steal this game. The silver lining is that we are not feeling a false sense of relief after pulling out a garbage win. We are feeling the pain of watching a train wreck for 2+ hours, as well we should.

You put all my feelings into words. My idiot father was visiting today and couldn't help shout "It's just a basketball game!". As a women's hoops fan, and a boomer synced to his iPhone through hearing aids and Bluetooth to loop youtube, I don't think he quite comprehends just how bad this sucks. That Miami game made me physically ill. This game - I'll have the for months

Don’t want to hear the obvious refs suck this is a pitiful loss. Up 7 with 30 seconds left and Ball fouls a crappy 3 or shooter, up 5 and Diarra just lets his guy get a lay in??? This is not UConn basketball this is pitiful.
And maybe our coach needs to stop telling refs to quit turning their backs on him and yelling at fans and pointing at his 2 rings and proving he’s a great coach. Because this team isn’t good down the stretch ever and they are dreadful getting the ball in bounds consistently all year.

Worst loss since Calhoun started!!!
You mean the lousy 3 pt shooter who made all his free throws and hit the 3 to tie the game over McNeeley pitiful defense?

Keep nailing the freshmen to the bench.

That’s totally going to end well for us.

I think we should see if they know how to dribble a basketball - they cannot be any worse at than the group we’re currently trusting to do so.
Can't dribble if the ball aint in your hands! We couldn't get one person open for a pass in 3 x 5 seconds!

That was legit some of the worst coaching I've ever seen. Hurley can joke all he wants about not having to win close games because we blow everyone out, he can point to his rings yada yada. He still stinks in possession games at the end. Can't ever even inbound the ball and he's completely screwed around with Tarris all season.

He better own that loss in the presser because it was all on him.
He has proven this season that he’s very good coaching NBA ready players. That’s what he’s proven.

And his act is growing very, very tired. He needs to STFU and learn some humility.

Not sure how long you've been a fan buy...

Loss to Maryland - opening round 2021 tournament
Loss to NM State - opening round 2022 tournament
Home loss to Creighton in 20-21 season (worse collapse at end of regulation than today)
Loss to St Joe's preseason tourney 2019-2020 season (as mentioned earlier)
At least half a dozen in Hurley's first year, capped by a 40 point beatdown by Houston in the conference tournament, which due to COVID ended up being our last ever AAC tournament appearance.

This is only from the Hurley years.
My guess, longer than you.

But w/ that being said.

Can you show me a clip where we can’t inbound ball over and over and over again In last minute where we turn it over in last second. Even after 5 second call still can’t get it in.

A clip where we are up by 7 pts w. 30 seconds to go and then foul a 3 pt shooter for no reason?

And the missed shots/turnovers and missed FT all in last minute.

I’ll take it even if it’s close…

Then compare the record of who we lost to who you mention above and find a team with only 1 win in conference.

Seton Hall is a pathetically bad team.

All of these facts taken together - yes ALL TIME Top 5 loss.

What have we put, 7 players into the NBA over the past two years? Need to give Hurley a chance to reload. And he's doing that next year with 3 McDonald's All-Americans plus a supposed stud from overseas. This team is young and not super talented. Not untalented, but not super talented. And unfortunately, AK is having a tough year. To be competitive with the top teams, this roster would need him to be playing like a first team All-American. That's just not been the case this year. Hurley is not the greatest X's & O's coach out there but he's obviously proven he has what it takes to get the job done at the highest level better than just about anybody out there. I suspect he will turn this around and we'll see a much more competitive product next year.

The refs were not the major factor. We can’t inbound the ball. We turn the ball over. Our defense is terrible. Poor decision making. Yes, the refs didn’t help. But what I watched was a team that thinks they can come into a gym and win on reputation. SH never gave up, they out hustled us for loose balls, they wanted it more. That is why this game was lost. THEY WANTED IT MORE THAN US! That’s inexcusable and it reflects the lack of mental toughness of this team. When it gets tight, they make mistakes.
Pretending that the two calls at the end weren’t a major factor in the outcome is silly. It doesn’t change the fact that we played terribly.
