Seton Hall Post Game Thread

Was it just me or was listening to Donny Marshall particularly aggravating with all his subtle criticisms and backhanded complements?
I don't want him to be a homer because then he wouldn't be doing his job. However, he seems like a reverse homer. If someone didn't know who he was, they would think he was pulling for Seton Hall. John Fanta, a Seton Hall grad never sounds like he is rooting for Seton Hall or any team when he calls games. I like Donny, FWIW, and he is a great ambassador for UConn, but I just don't think he is very good calling games.

At the end of the day, we were losing by 8 down the stretch on senior night. Our most cherished senior, ALEX KARABAN, led the comeback. Thank you for everything Alex, you’ve made us proud in Storrs and Hartford. Big month coming up, go get us two more trophies!

Seton Hall shoots 30% from three. Credit to them for going 9-18. Staton McCray 32.6%, 4-8 today. Mike Williams 32.5%, 3-3. Elijah Fisher 21.6%, hit a clutch one. I’m sure they won’t shoot like that again this year

What a goofy game lol. After dog walking St John’s, needed a nail biter against Seton Hall. Doesn’t feel great. Several officiating blunders, but ended in our favor. Definitely a foul by Silas at the end. I’d also lean towards shooting foul. Oh well!

Crush Marquette, then on to MSG! Let’s go Huskies!

I don't undertand it, he's such a great player. We're really good offensively but obviously not good enough on that end of the floor for Silas to decide he's never going to shoot. The staff has to get it in his head that we need him to shoot the ball. He should have a minimum of 10 shots every game.
He has some bad habits on offense - one, he'll drive into a lane, kill dribble at wall, squat and pivot around. Missed a wide open Mullins once. Two, he'll go into a head down forward tilted drive where he loses the ball, just out of control. We need him to penetrate with intention, tall and strong.

Also being guarded by a 5'8" dude for a good deal of the game, Clark is a pest but at 6'3" you gotta take advantage of that.

I give all credit to Seton Hall, they came in on our court and matched us toe for toe. They almost ruined Alex's (and others) day.

This was a gritty, tough and hard won BE game. This grind out will make us a better team. We are proven and tested and do not shy away from the moment.

Say what you want about the BE, but we'll come into March Tourney anxious to play non Conference teams and that's when we shine!

We just have to get our of conference.

TNT really are disputing the non-foul call. It definitely wasn't a shooting foul call and just a bad idea by the Seton Hall player. At least Bruce Pearl didn't think it was much of a talking point. Mashburn just likes to find every issue with us and is a little cringe worthy.

I think the staff needs to design and run some plays for Silas. Need to get him some shots. We need a better #2 PG. Malachi struggles running the offense.

We showed real championship DNA and heart when we responded with that kill shot 10-0 run down 8 in the second half. It made me feel happy.

Donny Marshall loves Seton Hall. You can hear it in his voice when he was screaming for Seton Hall to foul during the last minute. It's weird.

It was Seton Hall's day and we found a way to win. We could play them another 50 times and they wouldn't shoot/play that well.

Too many turnovers, too many missed ft's and Silas should never ever shoot just 2 shots.

Our C+ game, Seton Hall's A++++

AK, take a bow

Down like 5 with 7 minutes left and the Gampel DJ plays Natasha Bedengfield. Turning point of the game.
I agree....they had everything go their way today and still got beat. Again, they are coming off a bye week, so they had a week off to prepare for this game. Meanwhile, UConn played possibly their most consequential league game on Wednesday and had to get ready to go in 2 days to play Seton Hall. Not an excuse, just a fact. Not an easy situation, especially with Seton Hall believing that if they won this game they would likely make the tournament. They got the W and can now enjoy their bye week ahead of Marquette.

Those plays stand out, yet when you look at the box score and even today he had 9 assists and 2 turnovers so it's not really the case at all. He needs to be more aggressive, not less

I did too and have talked to him once and he is a little bit of cocky guy. I don't dislike him but sometimes he does go over board on what he says.
I like Donny but hit the mute more than normal but that was also due to stressful game. If Donny was indeed part of recruiting 17 year old Shaheen to UConn, it may explain his decision to go to Seton Hall.

UConn missed a ton of chances to hit an open Reed rolling to the basket.

Guards, all of them, tried too much dribble penetration only to get stripped by help D.

Great job with FT in last minute but they are marginal as a team over 40 minutes.

It's a win.

Move on.

Smith regressed in this game and got into his bad habits again and overdribbling instead of passing and intiating the offense. Even with Demary in he tried to take over and drive in the trees and either turn it over or get his shot blocked. He definitely doesn't play like a Sr. I think Hurley has to be very careful how much time he gives him. I know Demary needs blows but maybe just have someone else initiate the offense when Demary is out by making a quick pass to start the plays.

Ross, Smith, and Reibe played 31 minutes today and 38 against St John's. There was not a significant difference and the lack of playing the bench was not in the top 10 reasons this was a close game
Sometimes you have to tip your cap to the other coach and team. This being a one or two possession game had very little to do with how we played today, it was all about how Seton Hall played today.

The level of consistent misery and of some posters on this board is truly mind boggling
Cheat code for people complaining about Donny. Most places inside Gampel he can't be heard. Probably the same people that complain about the crowd from their couch
