September 2019 WNBA Discussions, scores, game info, pictures

Emma is really, really good. She was the best player on the team before Elena arrived.

I brought this up on another thread but think it would be appropriate to repeat.
Emma Meesseman apparently did't play enough games and/or accrue enough minutes to qualify, but in 23 WNBA games this season (during which she averaged 23.6 minutes per game),, Emma shot 55.2 percent overall, 42.2 percent from 3-pt. land and 90.5 percent from the charity stripe. So the Mystics basically have two 50-40-90 players to throw at the opposition. Can stop one, but both? And if the Mystics get contributions from the returned Tolliver and/or any of their other excellent teammates, that will be tough for anyone to beat.

Washington leading after 1 quarter 24-23. Mystics aren't shooting the ball as well as normal but still up. Looks like EDD is going to take over this game.

For the Aces they've been pounding it inside to Wilson and Cambage. Plum hasn't shot yet but she's had some nice dishes. McBride has been fairly aggressive as well.

Washington hasn't really taken advantage of it, but LV switches a lot of picks and gets bad matchups--one of the guards down low against Meesseman or Sanders. I don't like that strategy.

Why is Tolliver wearing a brace? I thought her injury was with her wrist

Aces have surged ahead 41-33. Mystics have gone cold and do not look like the well oiled machine they usually are.

Cambage/Wilson/McBride have 12 each and Hamby has 5, that's all the scoring for LV. Plum has 5 assists though. She's been really good breaking down the defense and dishing off.

Who is this team pretending to be Washington? 24-13 advantage for LV in Q2, 47-37 halftime lead.

Hamby starting Q3 instead of Jackie Young again. J. Young has not gotten a lot of minutes in the post season.

56-41 lead, TO Washington barely over 2 minutes into the 2nd half.

Wow, second time this series Cambage elbowed Meesseman and Emma got called for a foul. Thibault got T'd up just now protesting it.

Cambage elbows Meesseman in the head, and then Emma is called for the foul. Go figure.

Then the T for Coach T

79-62 after 3Q. Cambage w/ 20, Wilson 18, McBride 16, Hamby 10, Plum 9 and 9 assists.

EDD has 22, 11 each for Toliver and Powers. Other 4 starters for Mystics with very little impact in this game. Wilson and Meesseman have done a total flip flop from game 2.

I just have a feeling both series will go to a 5th game.

Plum cannot get a break w/ the damn refs. 2 drives in a row she got fouled w/ no call. Other players get that call, she gets no respect.

Def did not get fouled when she threw a fit to the floor

92-75 final. This game was all about Cambage and Wilson. Combined 49 points on 20-29 from the floor. Mystics had no answer for them.

My eyes are bleeding. Sun-Sparks are a combined 4-18 from the floor midway thru Q1. I don't think I can stomach watching this crapfest.

Recipe for disaster for Washington to allow the Aces to score 90 points a game this series. If the Aces continues to play defense like they did today they can absolutely come back and win it.

Is it too late to replace Chelsea Gray with Jasmine Thomas on the Olympic team?

What a way for LA to go out, getting blown out at home and swept by the Sun after many picked them to advance to the finals. Did Parker get injured or did coach just bench her? Box score says she's only played 11 minutes.

LA needs to figure out their roster. Brown and Vadeeva can both be starters in this league within a few years, but they were buried on the bench. TRP is not a WNBA starter for any other team in the league. Their backcourt is not very good either. Maybe trade Brown or Vadeeva and get a good SF and a decent backup guard.

I wouldn't be surprised if Vadeeva decides to not come back to the W. It appears that LA is going to be Chiney's final team. She could very well quit the W and continue with her ESPN career. So I think LA is definitely stuck with the Ogwumike's and Parker.

I quit watching early in Q1. Unbelievable how bad LA was in this series. Nneka the only player that showed up. Parker's on again off again routine is par for the course, but who would've expected Gray to be this bad 3 games in a row? Time to blow up the team and start over?

Box scores don't tell you everything, but looks like pretty much Jasmine Thomas and Courtney Williams won this game, Sun didn't get much else from anybody else. Some bench players chipped in but the other 3 starters didn't produce much. Well now Connecticut gets to rest for a while. Mystics don't look as unbeatable as I thought thru most of the season. Maybe this will but the Sun's year rather than the Mystics'.

The winner of the Aces-Mystics will win the W finals. Those are far and away the two best teams..

Look for her to bounce back in a big way in game 2. Is it a case of Duke on Duke violence?

I think I should retire from making WNBA predictions until 2031  Im sorry Chelsea and the Sparks
