Selection Sunday - General discussion (merged threads)

I don't understand why the #1 seed plays the highest 2 seed (Vandy).
Last season weren't we the highest 2 seed and played the lowest 1 seed (SoCal)???

NCAA prioritizes teams that finish top 4 in the same conference being placed in different brackets. SC/Texas were both 1 seeds so they avoid putting Vandy/LSU in the same bracket with them, meaning UCONN was always going to get either Vandy or LSU. I think LSU is the more dangerous opponent.

UConn has a cakewalk.

UCLA has the toughest 2 and a surprise (and toughest) 3. They’ll have to earn it either way.

Texas has the toughest 5 in a healthy Kentucky, but 1 shouldn’t lose to a 5.

Carolina has a likely rematch with Oklahoma, toughest 4. Assuming Iowa is 2, TCU 3. Tested programs, but idk that either is a bad matchup.

This selection committee is turrible....

Well...can't say I love Washington's chances at beating South Dakota St. #6 seed is better than I thought they would get, but the opponent is battle tested and VERY used to playing in the Tourney.

Would have rather face some new teams if we advance..... lots of potential rematches... you definitely don't see this in the men's tournament.
Yeah, but the men's selection committee likes to play lots of games with their potential match ups too. They like a compelling side story.

So who got left out? BYU and Utah from the Big 12. Thankfully Mississippi St. from the SEC.

A couple great things about UConn being the #1 overall seed. They announce it right away so I can now watch USA Baseball play the Dominican Republic and secondly, UConn will never host a watch party with the team cheering and carrying on. Tell me who we play, where we play and when?
Why don't they have a watch party? I know they haven't in years. Did they ever?

Iowa state had a rough year. I would prefer Syracuse in the second round though.

And my Cardinal... :(
Mississippi St. absolutely didn't even deserve to be considered, but the fact Nebraska got in and some of those others didn't...well I feel for their fans. How about Cal? I don't know about OOC and all the metrics, but they finished higher in the ACC standing than your Card did.

I don’t know that they ever had one. It’s a UConn thing, just like never cutting down the nets when they win a Regional Championship.

The Huskies don’t celebrate getting chosen for the Big Dance and they don’t celebrate winning the Regionals. There is just one celebration, when they win the National Championship, which they’ve done 12 times.
