Selection Show thread (7 ET, ESPN)

Okay, didn't realize Syracuse was on a delay and didn't know they were on live. I'm willing to bet they weren't thrilled w/ their seed and potential 2nd round matchup though.

Stockton Regional seems to be the easiest path to the FF.

Because South Carolina has earned it!

And if South Carolina gets upset again they once again don't have a really good team there to pick up the slack.

Not saying that Maryland isn't better than their #9 national seed, but their weak OOC dropped their power numbers, as did a weak conference. The committee doesn't reward you just because you played UConn close.

If that were the benchmark, Florida State would be the most difficult #3 seed (not Maryland), as FSU lost to UConn by two points.

So, Ohio State and NC State won't be seeded/hosting?
That's correct. Miami was the "surprise" final host, along with whichever lucky #7 seed gets paired with Stanford.

I guess NC State will be a 5 seed headed to Kentucky?

Would have thought committee would not do a potential UConn Syracuse game.

PS. My night to hit the kitchen so catch up later.

Ohio St @ Kentucky - sb a great crowd, and then one of them will bring fans to regional

Relax. That was the game Lou was barfing into a trash can during the game and before Saniya found her traction. The game was also on Maryland's home court in December, not Bridgeport in March.

UConn also led by double digits most of the game. MD got it to 5 in the 4th quarter, but no closer.

Ah man..... those losses to Wake Forest and UNC hammered NC State

Creme had Syracuse as a #6 seed. So they surely feel underseeded (I would agree). And which team would have been thrilled about having to go to Storrs? Not a daring bet.

No penalty to Baylor for losing in their conference championship to unranked WV - BS!

Bridgeport region is the toughest path to final four. Thanks committee. No respect!

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Yeah looking at those 8-9's, Syracuse is clearly the most dangerous. Not even close.

Never seen Temple play....... do they have a chance to beat Oregon?? A good chance?

Wouldn't count on Temple winning. They had an injured starter in the AAC Tournament but looked really bad against USF.

It's not so much whether Maryland's OOC was weaker than UConn's conference schedule. It's the fact that Maryland's overall schedule (OOC+conference) simply wasn't anywhere near the level of any of the other top teams.

UConn was overall SOS #2, despite its weak-ish conference.
Maryland was overall SOS #87.
The next-weakest SOS rankings among top-4 seeds are Baylor at #27 and Washington at #26.

Thanks. It couldn't be any clearer now. I forgot that the B1G was really down this year.

I know for a fact MANY ACC schools will not play Maryland because of how they left the conference. And we know many coaches in the PAC 12/SEC hide behind their "Strong" conference.

Do they? Two Pac-12 schools played Maryland. UCLA traveled to Baylor and South Carolina. Stanford played Texas and Tennessee. Washington played Notre Dame. Kentucky and Tennessee have the #5 and #8 nonconference SOS.

Also, would it kill the committee, just once, to refrain from putting another AAC team in our region? Seriously?

It would be one thing if UConn had to keep playing these teams in the tourney. But that has NEVER happened, so why is it a problem?

The committee factors in geography. The better AAC teams are in the East. Thus no surprise that an AAC team ends up in the East.

There's about a 1% chance that UConn faces Temple. Again, what's the problem?
