Here's a story about the1950 secret scrimmage with Harvard

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED November 17, 1950

Although no formal score was kept, Connecticut outscored the varsity basketball team by a sizable margin in a 65-minute full scale scrimmage at Storrs yesterday.

The Crimson, working without injured center and Captain Ed Smith, could not control the backboards, although its outside defense was good and kept Connecticut from scoring much on set shots. Harvard's foul shooting was good, and Jim Urdan, sophomore forward, made an impressive showing.

If there is some truth to this article it bodes well on the rebounding front which we needed to improve in drastically. It would be nice to have a second sources view too.
Any insights from the Husky side?

They definitely played because the picture of Akok and some girl who was a girls basketball player from Putnam Science was taken at Harvard. They both were playing Harvard yesterday.

That doesn’t mean they played. They could have just been touring the campus ;)

From the ncaa's view, what is the point to having the secrecy around a practice/scrimmage? I could see if the schools chose not to have public attendees and be scouted by future opponents, but what does ncaa mandatory complete secrecy supposedly accomplish?
