Secret Scrimmage Scores

If it happened two weeks from now they count…obviously
“What changes about what you saw?”

Try again.

Obviously the meaning of the outcome changes.

But what actually happened still holds some weight when attempting to project what teams will be. UK dismantled them without 2 starters. We would be feeling just as confident. Unless you think Purdue didn’t try to win because it “didn’t count”.

Excited for college basketball this year with Peterson, Dybansta, Boozer, and Ament. This class looks elite.

This is what it’s suppose to be about too. Watching future stars of tomorrow.
Future stars are great but it’s more about programs/players/teams competing. Watching a coach put together a great balanced roster.

How fun was watching Rutgers last year? I didn’t even put them on after it was clear they were a bust. Edgecombe just scored the most in an NBA debut in forever and he offered nothing at the college level. For many of these kids college is nothing but a one year stopover. Sometimes it works other times it doesn’t.

If we beat MSU by 30 without two starters I won’t consider us any better or worse than the day prior

Those guys were cool but these guys are looking to be some of the best players in college hoops at schools built to compete.

It’s better and healthier for the game this way. The first one and done era was one of the most exciting times in basketball for casual viewers because people felt like they were watching the beginning of hall of fame careers all the time.

Game is better when it’s able to push that over guys getting their 15 seconds of fame.

Purdue lost a scrimmage two years ago to Arkansas. Purdue made the final and Arkansas missed the tournament. I remember one year Syracuse lost to like LeMoyne in a scrimmage then made the Final Four. There is absolutely nothing to read into from scrimmages. Nada.
Again I disagree. Why you’re determined to be obtuse on this is beyond me. There is something you can to take from it. It isn’t some sole judgement on what a team will be. But to say you can’t watch that game and say “hey UK just smashed a nc favorite. They might be good” is asinine. No one game exhibition or counted game, tells the full story on what a team will be. Yet we take things from games all the time. And if it happened 2 weeks from now you’d all of a sudden be able to take something from it? Lol. If we had done that everyone here would be ecstatic. UK fans should be hopeful. That was impressive.

Honestly, I prefer the future stars of yesterday...

Yeah I’m not gonna bother repeating myself. UK is a top 10 team. They won at home in a scrimmage - which they should by the way. Start planning the parade.

Without 2 starters and destroyed them. I’m sure you’re a blast a parties. Let them love their team. Because you would be doing the same. Or else you just come off as a grumpy old man.

I’ve already said I wouldn’t / don’t care about scrimmage results. I’m bored of this. You win, I guess?
Cool. You’re just lying lmao.

Matter of fact I apologize. I forgot they play a different sport than basketball during these scrimmages.

Speaking of those plucky southern Canadians, they were up by 4 on Univ. of Buffalo with a minute left and pulled out the dub tonight. Betsey actually looked good.

Michigan 96 St. John's 94 in OT.

I'll preface my comments with the fact this was an exhibition that doesn't count. But some interesting stats.

St. John's 4-23 from three. Sounds like last year.

Michigan shot 52% from the field and 42% from three. That doesn't sound like St. John's.

St. John's was outrebounded 48-36. Pitino's not going to be happy about that.

Who's playing point guard for St. John's? Hard to tell from the box score but Ejifor led them in assists with 6. So Ejifor? 😀 Nobody else with more than 2 assists. Wasn't Sellers supposed to be their PG, according to Pitino? 0 assists, 0 points, 0 rebounds and fouled out.

St.John's 32-41 from the FT line. I wonder how many they'll shoot against the Huskies?

Ejifor a beast again. Led the team with 24 points. 6-12 from the field and 12-13 FTs. 6 rebounds. Fouled out very late in OT.

Boxscore:

Scoring 94 while shooting 4-23 from three is something.

And that vaunted SJ defense…..Mitchell will play a TON.

Watching the highlights it seems like Pitino is going to use Zuby as the hub to try and get around the pg issue.

It sounds like they played like cr@p and lost by 2 in overtime to the #7 ranked team in the country.

Exhibition games don't mean anything but St. John's is scary.

It was honestly a very competitive game. Tight game throughout. You can find it on the vietnamese river fisherwoman youtube.

Hopkins and Zuby got to the line a ton, which kept them in it despite the horrendous shooting from the guards.

Zuby is definitely scary. Kid keeps getting better.

Both front courts played very well

This is exactly what happened. Defense looked better than usual this early. Offense hasn’t figured it out just yet especially Jackson, Sellers, shooting from outside wasn’t good. Sju will get a ton better and Michigan actually shot well in this one.

The one that got away was Lendeborg. He was a SJU commit believe it or not. Pitino moved on from him. I can’t imagine how good we would have been with he and Zuby together.

Sju gonna get a lot better from here and Sellers/Sanon/Jackson will have a lot better games than today.
