Secret Scrimmage Scores

Looking at the Duke v UCF exhibition box score, the FTA discrepancy was UConn-esq. 13-3 in first half, 23-4 in the second half. I did not see the game, but Boozer's inside game may have justified it, and I am sure the officiating was ACC good, LOL.

man who in the hell is gonna guard Darryn Peterson on 12/2?

Purdue looked incredibly mediocre in their loss to Kentucky.
I thought KY looked solid. A bunch of good basketball players that played good defense, rebounded, got out in transition and shared the ball. No one blows you away, but when they get JQ back and when Oweh gets rolling I could see them as a top 5 team.

.-.
they also played without their starting point guard Lowe.

Defense and overall athletic ability has been upgraded. Could be really good come tourney time.

Same Purdue as always. They still don’t do well with physical athletic teams.

UK didn’t have 2 of their top 3 guys and crushed Purdue. No excuses against MSU

I'm gonna go ahead and say it, just like I said after one or two games that Reed was our best player, this Peterson kid whom I've only watched play twice last year as a high-school senior, looked like he was the best player in college basketball and he hasn't played a college game yet. Yet I'm hearing his name very little. He's REALLY good.

On here or everywhere? Because his name has been all over the place. Yes, he is really good.

That's just from 2 websites and not everything he's been mentioned in on those 2. Do you want to see more media praise for him? 😀

Whoever does the best job on Carr Monday.

If it’s Ross, coaches got to make it a point to tell him to stop acting like a female dog on offense.

Plenty talking about him. He’s pegged top pick and some comparing him to Kobe.

It will be Ross’ chance.

You're not looking in the right places, before DraftExpress departed ESPN they put him as the projected #1 pick in the '26 draft and many have pegged him as a better guard prospect than both Antman and Cunningham.

Excited for college basketball this year with Peterson, Dybansta, Boozer, and Ament. This class looks elite.

This is what it’s suppose to be about too. Watching future stars of tomorrow.

Unfortunately we have a guy who locked him down* but he just sprained his ankle.

* for one possession in an all star game - but it happened
Mullins isn’t locking anyone down at his weight. For that KU game Ross and/or Silas are the best bets.

I’ve been enjoying these not-so-secret scrimmages but it’s hilarious the number of overreactions already. UK fans are already claiming themselves national champions. People are saying Purdue are frauds. Dybantsa is the next LeBron. Louisville frauds. Etc.
They don’t mean everything, but they do mean something. If they happened 2 weeks from now that changes what about what you saw? It valid for UK fans to walk away from that game thinking they can win a national championship

If it happened two weeks from now they count…obviously

“What changes about what you saw?”

Try again.

Obviously the meaning of the outcome changes.

But what actually happened still holds some weight when attempting to project what teams will be. UK dismantled them without 2 starters. We would be feeling just as confident. Unless you think Purdue didn’t try to win because it “didn’t count”.

Future stars are great but it’s more about programs/players/teams competing. Watching a coach put together a great balanced roster.

How fun was watching Rutgers last year? I didn’t even put them on after it was clear they were a bust. Edgecombe just scored the most in an NBA debut in forever and he offered nothing at the college level. For many of these kids college is nothing but a one year stopover. Sometimes it works other times it doesn’t.

If we beat MSU by 30 without two starters I won’t consider us any better or worse than the day prior

MSU is not this years Purdue. Please stop.
Purdue lost a scrimmage two years ago to Arkansas. Purdue made the final and Arkansas missed the tournament. I remember one year Syracuse lost to like LeMoyne in a scrimmage then made the Final Four. There is absolutely nothing to read into from scrimmages. Nada.

Those guys were cool but these guys are looking to be some of the best players in college hoops at schools built to compete.

It’s better and healthier for the game this way. The first one and done era was one of the most exciting times in basketball for casual viewers because people felt like they were watching the beginning of hall of fame careers all the time.

Game is better when it’s able to push that over guys getting their 15 seconds of fame.

Again I disagree. Why you’re determined to be obtuse on this is beyond me. There is something you can to take from it. It isn’t some sole judgement on what a team will be. But to say you can’t watch that game and say “hey UK just smashed a nc favorite. They might be good” is asinine. No one game exhibition or counted game, tells the full story on what a team will be. Yet we take things from games all the time. And if it happened 2 weeks from now you’d all of a sudden be able to take something from it? Lol. If we had done that everyone here would be ecstatic. UK fans should be hopeful. That was impressive.

Honestly, I prefer the future stars of yesterday...

Yeah I’m not gonna bother repeating myself. UK is a top 10 team. They won at home in a scrimmage - which they should by the way. Start planning the parade.
