Speaking of those plucky southern Canadians, they were up by 4 on Univ. of Buffalo with a minute left and pulled out the dub tonight. Betsey actually looked good.

I'll preface my comments with the fact this was an exhibition that doesn't count. But some interesting stats.

St. John's 4-23 from three. Sounds like last year.

Michigan shot 52% from the field and 42% from three. That doesn't sound like St. John's.

St. John's was outrebounded 48-36. Pitino's not going to be happy about that.

Who's playing point guard for St. John's? Hard to tell from the box score but Ejifor led them in assists with 6. So Ejifor? 😀 Nobody else with more than 2 assists. Wasn't Sellers supposed to be their PG, according to Pitino? 0 assists, 0 points, 0 rebounds and fouled out.

St.John's 32-41 from the FT line. I wonder how many they'll shoot against the Huskies?

Ejifor a beast again. Led the team with 24 points. 6-12 from the field and 12-13 FTs. 6 rebounds. Fouled out very late in OT.

Scoring 94 while shooting 4-23 from three is something.

And that vaunted SJ defense…..Mitchell will play a TON.

Watching the highlights it seems like Pitino is going to use Zuby as the hub to try and get around the pg issue.

It sounds like they played like cr@p and lost by 2 in overtime to the #7 ranked team in the country.

Exhibition games don't mean anything but St. John's is scary.
 
It was honestly a very competitive game. Tight game throughout. You can find it on the vietnamese river fisherwoman youtube.

Hopkins and Zuby got to the line a ton, which kept them in it despite the horrendous shooting from the guards.

32 points from the line helps. I don't think there were any games UConn scored 32 points from the line last season.

This is exactly what happened. Defense looked better than usual this early. Offense hasn’t figured it out just yet especially Jackson, Sellers, shooting from outside wasn’t good. Sju will get a ton better and Michigan actually shot well in this one.

The one that got away was Lendeborg. He was a SJU commit believe it or not. Pitino moved on from him. I can’t imagine how good we would have been with he and Zuby together.

Sju gonna get a lot better from here and Sellers/Sanon/Jackson will have a lot better games than today.
 
FWIW (and it's not much), Providence beat Harvard 85-77.

Also, our former foe Syracuse defeated Buffalo 76-66.

I never said they can win a national championship. I said it’s valid for UK fans to feel that way after watching their team down 2 starters dismantle a NC favorite.

Secondly, I never said the 2 games were the same. What I said was, what changes between now and a couple weeks besides the game counting? They’re playing the same sport. Which means things can be drawn from them. Your GOAT Pitino then proceeded to draw something from the games lmao.

So engage with the actual argument.

I don’t too much stock in these scrimmages. There is probably no scouting your opponent and very little game preparation. Coaches simply want to see what they have vs a quality opponent.

I didn't know that until you posted this. That was a mistake by Pitino but you can't bat 1.000.

The St. John's/Pitino side of things is that Pitino wanted to see him workout after he took over and Yaxel said no thanks and bounced. Yaxel took that was not wanting him.
